Pure Balance Physio & Pilates : Nikki Laing Hands on Physio and exercise prescription with Clinical Pilates Rehab and Classes The classes are run in 6 week courses.

Classes run by Qualified Physiotherapists trained in Clinical Pilates Instruction. Classes are small and run by 2 instructors in classes with 11 clients or 1 instructor with a class of 5. Classes are aimed at clients suffering from back pain, recovering from back pain or surgery or any other medical problems. We are also happy for non-suffers to join the classes.

🥰Feeling blessed and very thankful for my wonderful client’s feedback, showing the power of Pilates and movement. The weekly Pilates class recording helps you work in your own home even when you can't get to a class. A lovely email I received last week.

Thought you might like this - I’m just back from 2 weeks hols and got a rotten cold at the end of it.

Anyway, yesterday I decided I really needed to do pilates and go gently just to give my poor body a break after being in bed for a few days. So, I duly hoovered the room, laid out the mat, got my therabands, weights and even rubbed out my feet on a spiky ball (by which point I was knackered!). Turn on lesson and you said ’starting on a chair’. I groaned and got a chair - but do you know what, it was just what I needed, standing would have been too much, I ended up being very grateful. I managed the complete class and went back to bed, so much less stiff and so grateful I did bother.

So thank you - you may not always see it, but yes the classes are brilliant as ever.

🌟New Month, all classes back and running🌟

This week most classes are working with the small balls to work on control, strength and balance.

Every class at least someone (if not all) makes me full of pride. Today one of our clients has achieved the mobility of the cat stretch which he had struggled with for a year but perseverance has paid off🎉

Everyone’s Pilates journey starts at a different place and travels at a different pace. We never stop improving, learning about our bodies and moving forwards.

💪🏻Resilience: the ability to recover and bounce back from challenging or difficult situations💪🏻

Many times I see clients who have given up their hobbies or enjoyments because of pain they experience.

My role is offering guidance and advice on how to regain the bodies ability to get started on the journey back to what they enjoy and the encouragement and belief that they can do it.

🎉This week was a mammoth milestone in rehabilitation, showing that whatever hurdles are thrown in your way, never give up hope that one day things will get better.

🩼2019 I ruptured my lateral ligament complex of my ankle playing badminton🏸

Despite extensive Physiotherapy & rehabilitation, the ankle still felt unstable and would swell and cause pain on low levels of activity. 😢I’d settled in my mind that maybe Badminton would be a past hobby and I’d be on the sidelines watching the kids.

🏥In Dec 2022 Mr Richard Freeman (Foot and Ankle Surgeon in Sussex) carried out a lateral ligament reconstruction and rehab started again. I was 5 months into rehab when the Pericarditis hit and I had to stop all exercise (apart from Pilates) until March this year.

💪🏻In May this year rehab started again and this week I was back on the court playing badminton with my 10 year old daughter, 12 year old nephew and my 18 year old son. 🏸

🥰Never give up hope, never stop moving forwards. It’s taken me 6 years from initial injury to being back on the court. It will take me a bit more practice to play 1:1 with my older boys (unless I want to get absolutely annihilated) but my 10 year old is a perfect playing partner for getting game practice in.

“I came to see Nikki after suffering a major fall (two fractured shoulders, one fractured knee and a fractured wrist and finally a broken thumb). My first impressions of Nikki was one of professionalism but also that she was confident that she could help me.

It wasn’t just my physical abilities that were affected but my confidence in basic tasks for example walking, household tasks etc, it took a while but eventually week by week I was able to walk unaided, and towards the end was confident enough to get a train to Brighton, something I could never have thought possible.
