There is no getting around snow and ice but you can navigate then safely. Top tips
1. Wear shoes that maximise traction
2. Wear gloves so your hands stay out of your pockets and can catch you if you fall
3. Walk slowly, take short steps like a penguin and stay on grass or other textured surface whenever possible
4. When getting out of the car place both feet flat on the ground before getting up
5. Avoid rushing, concentrate on your movements and surroundings and be prepared for slippery surfaces from melted ice and snow. Black ice is difficult to see!

Consider Do you really need to make the journey ? Leaving the wheelie bin for an extra week vs a hip fracture and months of recovery. It’s a no brainier
Stay safe !!! 😁🤞

Avoiding “Turkey Back”

Avoiding “Turkey Back”

When it comes to a turkey the traditional back care advice of bending your knees and keeping your back straight isn’t enough. This standard technique breaks down because the door gets in the way and the hot oven won’t let you get close enough. Whenever a situation is less than ideal it is important to look at your options more carefully to make better technical decisions.
Technique tips:

1. Place the turkey on a counter close to the oven. This will limit how far you need to carry it.

2. Think about the best place to stand. If you stand at the upper corner of the door this let’s you squat with one leg on each side of the corner and reduces how much you need to bend forward. It is still important to try to keep your back as straight as possible and bend your knees however some forward leaning is unavoidable.

3. Lighten the load. Even better advice is to find someone to help lift the other side of the pan. Remember it is the holidays and why else would you invite all those relatives if not to share the load?🦃😁🎉
