Barry Bennett Hypnotherapy As a Hypnotherapist, I can offer you effective assistance to overcome and break free from the effect

Hello all.
I qualified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist a number of years ago and had enjoyed quite a good practice, however, due to the Covid Lockdown rules, I had to cease practising and returned to my old profession where I could work from home.
I am now undertaking a refresher course to resume practising once more. Part of the course requires me to work with at least 4 volunteers and to submit reports to my tutor.
If any of you would be interested in helping me return to helping others please do PM me. It will cost you nothing other than an hour or so of your time.
Thank you in advance and I look forward to hearing from you.

How effective is Hypnotherapy via Zoom?
This is a question I have been asked quite a lot recently. The following testimonial is from a guy who, as you will read, had a fear of the dentist and needles. After a brief telephone conversation, we set up a Zoom session. The guy concerned admitted to being somewhat sceptical, however, after only one hypnotherapy session via Zoom, as you will read, he was able to not only phone and book an appointment with his dentist, but he also went on to have all 4 wisdom teeth successfully removed. After reading the testimonial, I think you will agree that effective therapy can indeed be conducted via Zoom.
“My partner was recommended for hypnotherapy by a family member after 2 years of crippling fear of the dentist and needles, to the point we couldn’t even discuss the dental work that needed to be done without him having a panic attack.
With just one session over Zoom with Barry, my partner was able to phone the dentist and book the appointment, which is something he physically couldn’t do for just over 18 months.
Barry also enabled him to remain calm leading up to the appointment and all dental work has now been completed…and he is now entirely different person!
The session with Barry hasn’t just helped with the phobias but also calmed a lot of underlying anxieties and he is far more relaxed in day-to-day life.
A huge thank you to Barry, would highly recommend.”
If you are struggling with an issue and would like help, please do get in touch to arrange a Zoom therapy session.

Further to my earlier post, there was an interesting article by Paul McKenna in Saturday 16th January Daily Mail where he offers mind tricks and techniques, many of which I too have been using for a number of years, which help to banish the lockdown blues - well worth a read.

The Coronavirus pandemic has had a dramatic effect on every aspect of our lives, causing heightened levels of stress, fear and anxiety for so many.
Whilst face to face therapy consultations have not been possible during the lockdown periods, therapy via Zoom has proved beneficial for clients, and can help you too.
We worry about our, and our loved one’s health, not just in terms of physical health, but mental health too. The lockdowns have been hard on us all and it is not surprising to have found motivation lacking or weakening, with sleep patterns being disrupted and perhaps even finding that our confidence has taken a knock.
Let me assure you that this is perfectly normal. Let’s face it, our “normality” has been turned upside down and these feelings are a result of the stress and worry this unprecedented and lengthy health crisis has brought upon us all.
When you think about it, for the past year or so we have been on such a high level of alert, being constantly told to “stay safe” which feeds our primitive “freeze; fight or flight” instincts. Such a heightened level of awareness for our physical health has played havoc with our emotional and mental wellbeing.
Zoom therapy sessions can help to rebalance the brain and learn techniques to control unhealthy emotions and negative thoughts.
For further information, or if you would like to arrange a Zoom session, please do not hesitate to give me a call.

I have just received this wonderful testimonial.
If you are being effected by insomnia or anxiety I am here to help.

"Due to 2020’s uncertainty, I had been experiencing insomnia for a few months, which led me to severe anxiety. I had tried all different types of herbal medication, sleep stories, yoga and then beta-blockers to aid the anxiety. None of these remedies seemed to work effectively for me and after speaking to a counsellor, they recommended hypnotherapy. I was not convinced immediately and decided to wait a while to see if anything changed. I came across Barry’s website one day and after watching his video, I contacted him straight away. Immediately after speaking to Barry on the phone, I felt more relaxed and positive that he could help me.

Barry was very accommodating and saw me the next day after the phone call. I met Barry for two sessions and on each occasion, he made me feel very at ease and comfortable. From the initial meeting, Barry took time to understand the issues that I was experiencing and then developed a tailored plan for my insomnia and anxiety. Barry shared a number of methods with me and provided recordings that I could use after the sessions at home, which were very helpful. I have now been getting a normal 8-10 hours’ sleep a night without any medication.

I would not hesitate to recommend Barry to anyone because I have great confidence that he can assist you and add a positive change to your life, as he did for me.

'Mindful hypnotherapy' could be key to beating stress.
Here is an interesting article resulting from studies carried out by researchers from Baylor University in the U.S. who discovered that combining mindfulness and hypnotherapy could be successfully used as an innovative new therapy to help alleviate stress symptoms.
The study results have been published in the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis.
The experts analysed more than 40 people who had self-diagnosed themselves with stress, and half of the participants took part in one-hour weekly individual sessions that included hypnosis and mindfulness, including being given self-hypnosis audio recordings.
The second group did not take part in the "mindful hypnotherapy” sessions.
At the end of the study, those who took part in the sessions reported a large decrease in stress and a significant increase in mindfulness, while those who did not participate reported no difference.
"Mindfulness is a type of meditation that involves focusing attention on present moment awareness. It can help people cope with stress, but can require months of practice and training," said Dr. Gary Elkins. "Hypnosis also involves focusing attention, but it includes mental imagery, relaxation, and suggestions for symptom reduction."
But using hypnosis to deliver mindfulness techniques had bigger advantages and proved that it could be a valuable option to beat stress.
"Combining mindfulness and hypnotherapy in a single session is a novel intervention that may be equal to or better than existing treatments, with the advantage of being more time-effective, less daunting and easier to use," he explained.

ZOOM SESSIONS

During the Covid-19 Pandemic lockdown period, whilst it was inappropriate to hold Face to Face sessions, I have nevertheless been able to conduct sessions via Zoom and they have proved to be very successful.
The following was a recommendation from a young man I worked with recently on my page:
“CO’G (Wickford, Essex) recommends Barry Bennett Hypnotherapy
24 May 2020 at 15:18
Had a session with Barry on Friday evening, and it was one of the best decisions I've made. I felt calmer than I've felt for a long time. He gave me coping strategies to deal with certain anxieties, and I've found them very helpful so far. Barry has a very soothing voice, and I felt as though I had sunk into my chair completely at one point.
Would highly recommend Barry to anyone looking to overcome any anxieties, fears, habits etc.”

Using Zoom to conduct a session, not only means you can do so in the safety and comfort of your own home no matter where in the World you are, but also you do not have to worry about social distancing or anything else concerning Covid-19. Also, if you wish, you can record the session so that you can play it back at any time you want to or feel you need to.
If you would like help to with any issue you are currently dealing with, I am offering Zoom sessions at a reduced rate.
Please feel free to email me (barry@bbhypnotherapyessex.com) PM me; or call 07715252877 for further information.

Today sees the start of Mental Health Awareness Week 2020, with the theme this year being “Kindness”.
Kindness is a value that is often overlooked and underrated in today’s busy society, however, kindness is in fact good for our mental health and it has been shown to be linked to happiness and contentment.
A new survey conducted by The Mental Health Foundation found that almost two thirds of us say that acts of kindness, either received or carried out, have a positive impact upon our mental health and that 48% said that acts of “self-kindness” had the same positive impact.
Other scientific studies show that acts of kindness can also help the immune system; reduce stress; slow down ageing; improve relationships, and importantly, are contagious.
The science reveals that by committing acts of kindness a hormone called “OXYTOCIN” is produced, this hormone causes the release of the chemical “NITRIC OXIDE” which helps to open up blood vessels and can lower blood pressure. In addition to nitric oxide, being kind produces the so-called happy chemical “SEROTONIN” which helps to improve mood.
In essence these chemicals impact upon the brain’s pleasure and reward centres which make you feel good, which in turn helps you deal with depression and anxiety.
Acts of kindness have a ripple effect, a kind of “pay it forward” effect, irrespective of whether you are receiving, giving or observing such acts the positivity experienced by all those involved improves their mood and makes people more likely to act kindly themselves.
In these challenging times, it is important that we look after our mental health as much as possible, so why not look for opportunities to be kind, one small act of kindness can release an enormous chain of positive events.
Remember “Kindness” is contagious yet, unlike Covid-19, it is not a contagion we should fear but one we should want to spread to as many others as possible.

Managing Fears and Anxiety surrounding Coronavirus.

As you are of course very aware, we are living in challenging times and as we enter another week of lockdown many people will be having difficulty coping, not just with the boredom but also dealing with anxiety and fear.
Knowing how to gently manage your anxiety can help you stay calm in the midst of a storm such as the current circumstances.
When it comes to this virus, whilst there are many practical steps you can take such as social distancing, washing your hands and self-isolating, one of the best things you can do to calm your fears and anxiety is to engage in a regular practice of looking within.
It is perfectly normal to experience a wide range of emotions in the wake of all the fears surrounding this virus. However, with help you can learn to manage those feelings and still live a peaceful and calm life.
Dealing with any crisis and in particular the coronavirus can feel like an emotional roller coaster, however, this is perfectly normal.
One strategy that does work is mind-body practices such as hypnosis. It is a fact that our positive thoughts, feelings, and emotions have a direct impact on our ability to feel good. So, the more we focus on positive thoughts and feelings, the better we can cope in these challenging times.
Practices such as hypnosis can help us manage our fears and help deal with the anxiety that comes with them.
Whilst I am unable to see you physically I can, nevertheless, teach you via Zoom or Skype the art of self-hypnosis to help you remain calm and strong.

Panic and Anxiety Attacks can be incredibly debilitating and if left untreated can affect so many aspects of our life and wellbeing.
Whilst both Panic and Anxiety Attacks may feel similar, and they do share a lot of emotional and physical symptoms, they are in fact different conditions. That said, unfortunately it is possible to experience both at the same time.
However, the good news is that with help you can learn how to recognise and effectively deal with both and prevent them from holding you back from living the life you want to live.
The following is a testimonial from a client I helped recently:
“To say Barry has helped me change my life is not an understatement.
I first contacted him suffering with panic attacks and anxiety issues after my dad’s passing. I hadn’t grieved properly, and my self-confidence and mood were very low.
On meeting Barry, I immediately felt at ease, was reassured that I could and would feel very differently, that there were many ways in which he could help me. I felt very comfortable with him and able to share anything on my mind without fear of it seeming silly or insignificant. After the first session I felt sure that this was going to be a very positive input in my life and Barry was the one to help me get my life back on track.
Each session had been well thought through by Barry and he had structured a plan to aid my individual recovery but was able to deviate should newer issues challenge me deeper at any stage. Barry gave me many strategies to help me whilst experiencing a panic attack, that were very helpful and easy to achieve on my own. He explained how and why these attacks happen and I believe seeing this clearly has helped me keep them at bay.
As the sessions progressed, I felt myself shining back through - feeling lighter, happier, positive and confident. I can say with complete certainty this is completely because of Barry. “Thank you” will never be enough, you’ve changed my life. “E” Witham”

Would you like to escape the clutches of Panic and Anxiety Attacks, I am here to help.
