This week we welcomed some new performers to our home. It was our pleasure to have the company of the Wellington Operatic Society Musical Theatre group. They presented songs from the Old Time Musicals with a sprinkling of Christmas… It was a real delight to see the residents enjoy their show. Thank you for joining us.

Our residents had a fabulous time making Christmas table centrepieces at the weekend with Cher & Tanya. Many supplies were purchased and it’s fair to say they used ALL the bling 🪩✨and they made a great job of them. The centrepieces are now in pride of place in our dining room. This was a great opportunity for others to do some painting and listen to Christmas music whilst spending time with friends and enjoying some refreshments. Well done everyone. 🎨🖌️🖼️🎄

Today residents joined in wishing Mary many happy returns of the day. Her cake of choice was chocolate and Andrew delivered a triple chocolate layer cake with ganache topping – it was absolutely delicious!

Residents have had a lovely afternoon enjoying the company of Julie. First up was a scrabble session and then residents had a great time identifying theme tunes from popular TV programmes over the years – it certainly brought back memories hearing theme tunes from programmes such as: Keeping up appearances, Some mothers do ‘av ‘em, Last of the Summer Wine, Benny Hill, Steptoe & Son, Midsomer Murders, Eastenders, Emmerdale Farm, Coronation Street, University Challenge, Mastermind, Allo Allo, Fawlty Towers, Casualty and more. We also discussed how programmes were on at the same time each week whereas now TV programmes are accessible all the time. We used to only have 3 TV channels… how times have changed!

Joyce was over the moon to be November’s winner of our recent ‘competitions’ which included lounge darts, carpet bowls and target games. She enjoyed her prize of bed socks, sparkly silver nail varnish and chocolate biscuits. The presentation took place at our monthly pub night which was thoroughly enjoyed by all as usual along with our fish & chip supper.

This week also brings our monthly bingo session with Tanya & Judy.

Our residents always enjoy our special activities and our recent session was a great hit. Tanya & Cher welcomed residents to join them in the Tudor Lodge Spa which was a huge success & looked so professional. Much pampering took place as well as time spent relaxing and chatting with friends. What a great idea and the spa will return in the future! 🧖‍♀️🧖

We had another successful trip to Sanders Gardenworld last week for residents. Chris was our chauffeur & residents were accompanied by Tanya, Cher, April & Liz. They thoroughly enjoyed looking at the festive displays and indulged in refreshments at the café. All senses were in overdrive when surrounded by the Christmas diffusers & festive garlands. Much fun was had by all as the photos depict. What a great way to spend the afternoon!

Last Thursday we rounded off our remembrance commemorations with a performance from Blitz Time Sally. Residents thoroughly enjoyed Sally’s beautiful singing and they had the added bonus of enjoying their weekly aromatherapy session with Debbie during her performance – that is the epitome of relaxing in style!
