🌿 Think Self-Care First — Your Local Pharmacy Can Help! 🌿

It’s that time of year when coughs, colds, sore throats, and minor illnesses start making the rounds. But did you know… you don’t always need to see a GP?

💊 Your local pharmacist is a trained healthcare professional who can offer expert advice.
They can help with:

- Coughs, colds, and sore throats
- Earache, sinus pain, or headaches
- Minor skin conditions and rashes
- Tummy upsets, constipation, or heartburn
- Hay fever, allergies, and much more

👩‍⚕️ New NHS Pharmacy First Service:
Many Burnley pharmacies can now offer treatments for common conditions and refer you directly for further care if needed, saving you time and freeing up GP appointments for those who need them most.

🩹 Self-care tips:

- Rest, stay hydrated, and eat nourishing foods
- Keep a few basics at home (paracetamol, ibuprofen, oral - rehydration, antiseptic cream)
- Seek advice early if things don’t improve

Your pharmacy is part of your NHS care team, and often the quickest route to feeling better 💚

If you are pregnant, you can help protect your baby from RSV, whooping cough, and flu, which can cause serious illness. Vaccines give you both the best protection against these diseases.

Speak to your midwife or GP practice.

From Monday 22nd September 2025, our surgery will be moving to a Total Triage system for all GP and ANP appointments.

This change is part of the new requirements that all GP practices must follow from October 2025.

🔹 What this means for you
All GP/ANP appointments (urgent or routine, remote or face-to-face) must now be requested via our online triage form, available on our website under the “Appointments” tab.

Your request will be reviewed and you will be advised on the most appropriate next step.

🔹 Nurse and HCA appointments
Appointments with our Nurses or Healthcare Assistants (e.g. blood tests, immunisations, health checks) can still be booked by telephone.

We understand this is a change in how appointments are accessed, and our team is here to support you. If you need help completing the online form, please contact reception, who will be happy to assist.

Thank you for your cooperation as we make this important transition.
