Difference Between Polynucleotides and Skin Boosters
Polynucleotides and skin boosters are both injectable treatments designed to improve skin quality, but they work in different ways and serve distinct purposes.
Polynucleotides are biostimulatory substances derived from purified DNA fragments, often sourced from salmon or trout. Their main function is to stimulate skin regeneration at a cellular level. They promote fibroblast activity, increase collagen and elastin production, and improve tissue repair. As a result, polynucleotides enhance skin texture, elasticity, and overall health over time. They are particularly effective for addressing signs of aging, scarring, and dull or damaged skin.
Skin boosters, on the other hand, are typically based on hyaluronic acid (HA). Their primary purpose is hydration and plumping of the skin. By restoring moisture levels and improving the skin’s barrier function, skin boosters create a smoother, more radiant appearance. The effects are often visible more quickly than with polynucleotides, but they may not last as long or provide the same regenerative benefits.
