Meet the Team Tuesday 💛

We’re delighted to introduce Sam Cheyte, one of our amazing volunteers here at the Hospice.

Sam is always ready to roll up his sleeves and get stuck in. You’ll often find him getting his hands dirty with our Shabby Shed group, or over in our Inpatient Unit, serving food and making brews for patients. When he’s not there, he’s usually downstairs helping out the marketing department with admin tasks.

Sam has also brought plenty of fun to the Hospice, even dressing up as Penny on a couple of occasions! 🐿️

Outside of volunteering, Sam recently organised his own fundraiser. For one night only, DJ Sam hosted his first ‘KOZE Session’ at The Dubliner in Burnley town centre, raising an incredible £174.59 through his love of music and Pendleside Hospice. 🎶

Sam is an absolute pleasure to have as part of the team and is always on hand to help wherever he’s needed.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Sam for his dedication and enthusiasm, we need more people like Sam in the world! 🫶

Registered Nurse – Hospice at Home

🕧 22.5 hours per week

Due to an upcoming retirement, we’re looking for a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Hospice at Home team 😊

This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver high-quality, personalised palliative and end-of-life care to patients in their own homes, supporting them and their families at some of life’s most important moments.

Whether you’re experienced in palliative care or newly qualified and looking to complete a structured preceptorship programme, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll be joining a supportive, values-driven team committed to providing exceptional care, with opportunities for learning, development, and even continuation of NHS pension (where applicable).

𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 - Clare Freeman🏃🏼‍♂️

"Hi, I'm Clare Freeman and I'll be running the London marathon in April to raise funds for Pendleside Hospice - a charity very close to my heart.

In September 2024, my sister in law Stacey sadly passed away at the Hospice as a result of Breast cancer. She was 34 years old.

The care and compassion Stacey, her family and friends received from the pendleside hospice team was exceptional. The team made her comfortable , eased her pain and supported her friends and family. They made us all so welcome as we came together to spend Stacey's final moments with her.

Words will be never be enough to thank the hospice team for their dedication, empathy and care.

The marathon is so much more than just a run. It's a tribute to Stacey's strength and resilience, which I hope to channel throughout the marathon for a great cause."
