But dilation is so much more than just a number!

It doesn’t follow a time line and “fully dilated” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s time to push.

We grow up seeing birth in the media being shown as women on their backs in hospital beds, surrounded by doctors being very hands on.

But what if we were taught that birth can look many different ways… upright, at home, in water, supported and powerful. Even in a labour ward delivery room you can ask for medical professionals to give you privacy or be hands off and be in positions that feel good for you.

Learning about physiological birth can really help you to trust your body and feel empowered.

Birth doesn’t have to be something that just happens to you.
