A letter was sent out second class post on Friday by the Integrated Care Board to all patients registered with the practice. You should receive it this week. The letter encourages patients to register at an alternative practice before the 23rd February 2024. After this date, although you will still be able to register at an alternative practice of your choice, the ICB will need to start the allocation process to ensure that all patients have access to primary medical services after the 31st March 2024.

Following on from the decision by the Integrated Care Board not to extend the current contract for the existing provider at Burntwood Health and Wellbeing the ICB have updated their FAQs here https://staffsstokeics.org.uk many of you will have received letters explaining the process outlined in the FAQ.

Remember you as a patient have the right to choose where you receive treatment in the future, the FAQs contain more information about this.

Also included are the current plans for the usage for the Cherry Close development when it opens.

A recent meeting took place with the Integrated Care Board where a number of proposals were made to them which would enable Burntwood Health & Wellbeing Centre to remain open until the new surgery is built on the Cherry Close site. We need to do everything possible to demonstrate our support as patients and Burntwood residents to any proposal that would keep the surgery open and avoid the overwhelming pressure closure would place on all other local practices.

If you want to help protect primary care services (GPs etc.) in Burntwood write or email the following letting the Integrated Care Board know that you support any decision that sees the practice remain open until the new practice is built and operational. We believe that this approach by the ICB will protect services for patients and offer real choice.

A huge personal thank you to everyone who turned out this morning to make it such an amazing protest.

Everyone should feel very proud of their efforts to protect GP services in Burntwood.

As you'd expect, members of the ICB defended their decision and gave no indication of taking patients' concerns into account when questioned at Lichfield District Council.

Health chiefs have defended their decision to close a GP surgery in Burntwood before a new facility is built.
