🚗 🚙 potential traffic disruption! 🚙 🚗

Just a heads up for potential traffic disruption & delays around the hospital area especially Belvedere Road this coming week - it may be mobile works or partial closures, who knows!? There are a few signs about suggesting something may be going on.

If you can leave a little extra time for your journey or find an alterative route, it may cause a little less stress 🤞

Last week the team attended the annual BACPR conference in Glasgow for the latest updates in the world of cardiac rehab. Some Glaswegian views were taken in, some haggis was tried, some colleagues were met and some friends were made. A little alcohol may have been consumed too - in moderation of course, practising what we preach! 😇 ❤️

Today is WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY!

We know that our mental health can contribute to physical health issues but also being unwell physically can negatively impact our mental health!

Here's some top tips.....
❤️ TALK ABOUT HOW YOU FEEL
The frustration, sadness, anger, guilt, loneliness and everything in between! It is important that we talk to family, friends, healthcare professionals or support groups - A problem shared is problem halved!

❤️ ASK FOR (AND TAKE UP THE OFFER OF) PRACTICAL HELP
If someone can help lighten the load, do a few chores, dampen the to do list - let them!

❤️ PRACTICE MINDFULNESS, DISTRACTION TECHNIQUES, BREATHWORK & RELAXATION
Ways to help manage unhelpful thoughts - perfection is not needed here, practice equals progress in finding what works for you!

❤️ MAKE A PLAN
To do something you enjoy when you are well enough to do so - meet a friend, enjoy a meal out, go on holiday!

❤️ REMEMBER TO REST & PRIORITIZE SLEEP
Pacing yourself and avoiding the 'boom/bust' cycle is key to recovery. Practice good sleep routines too!

❤️ HEALTHY LIFESTYLE ROUTINES
Eating well and moving a little especially in the fresh air can work wonders. Steer clear of unhelpful habits - smoking, drinking alcohol & eating unhealthy food, they won't help in the long run!

That's me having revalidated my British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention & Rehabilitation qualification for Exercise Instructors - good to go for another 3 years!

The rest of the team are on the BACPR annual conference (watch out Glasgow!) - discussing all things cardiac rehab and networking with colleagues & other service providers.

Always striving to provide the best cardiac rehab service for our patients ❤️
