!!!! IMPORTANT INFORMATION – COVID-19 !!!!
UPDATED MONDAY 16-03-2020

In response to the Government’s announcement on 12-03-2020 that the UK is now officially on the “delay” stage of the Covid-19 response plan; And the further update on 16-03-2020 where it was recommended that all unnecessary visitors to care homes be restricted. With this advice, we have reviewed our own policies and have taken the decision to request that guests, including families and friends delay visits to Cedar Lodge at this time.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and if there is a sensitive situation that requires a non-routine visit please contact the Home Manager, Jamie Warnock to ensure that the appropriate precautionary measures are taken to limit any potential risk.

In addition to the above, we have cancelled our community events and external entertainment for the foreseeable future. We have a committed and dedicated team that will do all they can in the interim to keep residents safe, entertained and comfortable. This includes making use of technology so that you can continue to keep in touch with your loved one via platforms such as Skype video calling (see information below).

We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment that this may cause; but please be assured that we have taken this decision to protect the health and well-being of all the residents who live in the home.

We will still ensure that vital medical visits are made, and will be sure that only visitors who have not visited any of the countries identified by the Government in the last 14 days and are not displaying symptoms come in, and that they wash their hands on entering.

We would really appreciate your support with these measures, and please be reassured that all of the actions we have taken, and will take in the future, have reflected the most current guidance and advice published by the UK Government and Public Health (England) and Public Health (Wales).

The health and welfare of our residents, visitors and team is our number one priority and we will keep all stakeholders updated with further developments. If you have any questions about your loved ones’ care, please do not hesitate to contact the home.

!!!! IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19 !!!!

As a responsible care provider and employer, Orion Healthcare Limited have been keeping abreast of the latest guidance being produced by Public Health England, the government body responsible for advising on appropriate actions to take to reduce the likelihood of the spread of COVID-19 in the UK.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, which include a temperature greater than 37.8 degrees Celsius and/or a new continuous cough, please DO NOT enter the home and self-isolate for the next 7 days.

Cedar Lodge has already restricted un-necessary visitors (ie. external entertainers) .

The following visitors can continue for now – bearing in mind the Government Guidance and ensuring our hand washing protocols are adhered to.

• Relatives, close family and friends - providing guidance is followed.
• Volunteers - providing guidance is followed.
• Healthcare professionals, including chiropodists.
• Hairdressers.
• Professional contractors – who are undertaking essential repairs, health and safety works or refurbishments that are underway.
• Maintenance contractors for statutory checks maintenance of essential equipment and urgent works/repairs.
• We will continue to make suitable arrangements to interview potential new employees subject to the guidance being followed.
• We will endeavour to continue to make arrangements for potential new residents subject to the guidance above being followed.
All visitors will be asked to wash their hands-on arrival to our homes, as they move around the homes and when they leave.

Cedar Lodge, as other care homes can have respiratory outbreaks over the winter period which could result in the temporary closure of a home to all bar health professionals. Unless we have a confirmed case of COVID19 as reported to us by PHE we are treating them in the normal way but with additional infection control procedures and limiting access. Should we receive advice from PHE, we would immediately initiate temporary closure to all visitors which will restrict visitation with exception to essential health professionals and certain compassionate care situations (ie. end of life situations).
