Announcing National SQP Week! Mark your calendars and start planning!

The first ever National SQP Week—a nationwide celebration of the vital role Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs) also known as Animal Medicines Advisors, play in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of livestock and pets across the UK, will take place 5-12 June 2026.

The campaign - formally announced today by us and our fellow industry regulators Vetpol and VetSkill - will be raising the profile of SQPs like never before. All stakeholders across the profession that work or engage with SQPs including retailers, pharmaceutical companies, animal owners, veterinary practice teams and government, plus SQPs themselves, are being encouraged to take part. We'll be providing lots of support and guidance to help make taking part as easy as possible. Find out more here: https://www.amtra.org.uk/NewsGrp/Details?id=172

Working for the long term future of the RAMA sector

AMTRA is a not-for-profit organisation, working since 1986 to support the long term future of the Registered Animal Medicines Advisor sector, managing the RAMA registration for almost 7000 AMTRA RAMAs.

AMTRA is appointed by the Secretary of State to keep its Register of SQPs (RAMAs), which brings associated responsibilities including an effective disciplinary process to take action in the case of RAMAs not following the SQP Code of Practice, together with a mandatory system of CPD.

Additionally, AMTRA undertakes a number of other activities to support AMTRA RAMAs, helping to support and enhance the quality of AMTRA RAMAs, the service they provide to animal owners, and supporting their long-term future.
