We have had a fantastic afternoon around the lido and in the woodland at Clarence Park, Bury.

A group of members of the North West spinal cord injury group joined us for 2 hours of adapted forest bathing. Their willingness to try nature based mindfulness and to overcome the uneven terrain was wonderful to see.

The session included connecting with our senses, noticing the impact of sights and sounds in nature on our nervous system, and reflecting on metaphors for resilience and community in nature around us.

Providing an accessible space for people to access nature based therapies is always our aim, and this session gave us lots to reflect and build on. Really grateful to this group.

Today we returned from our summer break for our first Nature Connection session in a while, and it had a very autumnal feel! 🍁🍂

With high winds forecast we opted for an indoor session, but we were able to engage in a nature mindfulness practice through the panoramic windows onto the lido. we spent time noticing the trees dancing in the wind and the ripple of rain on the water.

This was followed by a grounding exercise using natural materials, a 'mystery bag' game, and some nature based crafts. they each token away an autumn themed bookmark, postcard and seeded pencil.

Our attendees told us they enjoyed the activities, felt relaxed and more present, and got a sense of social connection from the hot drinks, cakes and chit- chat over postcard making.

We finished with the poem "If I Had My Life To Live Over" by Nadine Stair.

Plans are under way to shape up our autum/winter offering. More details coming soon.

Great to be back doing these sessions. 😊🍁🌳

We are just back from a wonderful couple of days in Antrim, Northern Ireland, where we had the privilege of facilitating a staff wellbeing day for an NHS Looked After Children team. 💚

We began with a 3-hour immersive forest bathing session in the stunning Antrim Castle Gardens. The perfect practice for reducing stress, easing burnout, and supporting nervous system regulation.

With everyone grounded and fully in their ‘rest and digest’ system, we enjoyed a nourishing lunch at the garden café, followed by guided reflections on self-care and connection with nature. The afternoon included journalling and creative nature-based art, deepening the sense of calm and restoration.

The feedback was positive and rewarding, and team members described feeling more present, relaxed, and reconnected to themselves and nature.

It was an privilegde to support a hardworking and dedicated NHS team in such a beautiful setting. 🌿💚🌱

👀 Can you spot the elephant in the tree branch??

As a social enterprise, the profits from this wellbeing event will fund a series of sessions for people living with a neurological conditon. If you'd like some information on our corporate wellbeing options for your team, you can contact us at neuroinnature@proton.me

🌿 We’ve just published our very first blog post — and it’s a powerful one.

Written by the wonderful James, it shares his personal journey of reconnecting with nature as part of his recovery from a traumatic brain injury. His story is inspiring and a beautiful reminder of nature’s healing power.

Today marked the final session in our current block of funded workshops—part of a pilot project supported by NHS Greater Manchester.

These sessions have focused on deepening connection with nature while integrating therapeutic elements from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). In today’s session, we explored nature-based metaphors, grounding techniques, and mindfulness practices, and closed with a reflective poem:

"If you have ever gone to the woods with me, I must love you very much."

We were incredibly lucky with the weather and even luckier with the group who joined us—curious, open, and engaged throughout.

We’re now taking time to reflect on what we’ve learned and will soon be sharing feedback, outcomes, and our next steps.

Watch this space.🌱☺️💚

Another really enjoyable nature connection session this morning in Bury. We had people with aphasia, Parkinson's, stroke survivors and an amputee.

One person commented that our sessions are the most she has heard her aphasic partner speak in a long time 💚🙏💚

Our sessions are fully accessible, and offer a chance to slow down, rest, engage with nature, explore parks and woodlands, and share tea and cake with like minded people. We also have some small treats and gift to help people feel cared for.

Just one session left in this funded block and it looks like we are fully booked!!

Watch this space for more to come 😊

The slightly cooler weather today didn't put anyone off and we had full attendance ☺️

We are noticing so many changes in nature at each of these sessions. Today we saw new leaves on the trees, nesting for new life, lots of blossom, and even some carp popping out of the lido.

Just 4 sessions left in our current series of funded sessions. Link here to book or email us at neuroinnature@proton.me

"Despite some of the limitations in study designs, key aspects of forest-bathing do appear to provide real health benefits. The challenge is how access to those health benefits is enabled for everyone equally."

At Neuro In Nature we are passionate about proving nature connection and forest bathing in a way that is accessible to our clients.

Once again the lovely Chris Winson has done a great job of summarising the issues related to evidence for Forest Bathing and its accessibility in his latest blog post.

Addressing evidence limitations and accessibility barriers within forest-bathing
