As a hospice we will be remembering our friend and colleague, Michelle King, who died unexpectedly five years ago. Michelle was a fundraiser at Bury Hospice and her love for the hospice shone through everything she did. The way Michelle spoke about the hospice that she loved so much made it clear that fundraising was not just a job, she was truly passionate about making a difference. Michelle was always the first to remind people that we are a charity that relied on donations to keep our doors open. We will be dedicating a light for Michelle this Christmas. In preparation for the Bury Hospice Christmas Fair on Sunday 30th November, we're looking for generous donations to stock our stands.

Your kind donations of selection boxes, unwanted gifts, alcohol, chocolate, sweets and candles will help us raise vital funds for people living with life-limiting illnesses across Bury.

Donations can be dropped off at the main reception at Bury Hospice or Tesco in Woodfields Retail Park.

Discover the Great Wall of China on our trekking adventure between November 8th and 16th 2026.

The trek takes you to a remote section of the Great Wall of China, from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and Simatai. If you are considering registering for this incredible oversees trek, come along to our information evening at the hospice on Wednesday, 10th December, between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

The Bury Hospice Santa Dash is happening on Sunday 14th December, 9:30am, at Burrs Country Park.

This family-friendly 5k fun run is free to join, all we ask is that you raise some sponsorship to support your local hospice.

And to get you in the festive mood, you'll receive a Santa hat to wear on the day!

The second of our Light up a Light services will be held at Bury Hospice on Sunday, December 7th at 4pm. At this very special time of year we come together to remember those we love and miss and the joy they brought to our lives. We will be joined by Ramsbottom Community Choir. As we cherish the memories of those we love, there will be readings, Christmas music and lighting of candles. Sarah and Alison from our bereavement and family support team will be attending our service. They support families from the moment they come into contact with Bury Hospice. They work very closely with all our clinical teams and are here for our patients and families when they need them, at whatever stage in their journey of bereavement.
