Connex Care and Support We provide one-to-one support and group activities to support disabled children and adults We now support Adults up to the age of 55 years.

Aspire Disability Support Services have been supporting children and young people with disabilities for more than 15 years. We support individuals with a variety of disabilities and additional needs from mild needs to severe/complex needs. This support can be in the home or even out in the community. Our service is a project run by the Voluntary and Community Services Peaks and Dales and our office is based in Buxton, Derbyshire. We cover support in the High Peak, Derbyshire Dales and Chesterfield area primarily and we also have a service in Tameside. We can provide support in other areas depending on funding.

Say hello to the one, the only… Rachael Mitchell 👋

Role: Head of Care and Support for Older Adults
Length of service: Since 2001 (yes, really!)
Working in Care & Support since around 2008-ish — basically part of the furniture (in the best way!) 😄

💼 A bit about Rachael’s role:
Rachael is the mastermind behind the rotas (think advanced-level puzzle solving under pressure 🧩💥). She oversees care plans, MAR sheets, reviews, compliance, invoicing, records — and calmly handles constant change.

Her days include:
📞 Phones ringing non-stop
🚨 Last-minute changes & emergencies
🤒 Staff sickness
💊 Medication updates
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family concerns

All while still making time to get out and see the real impact our care has on people’s lives 💛
Coffee and biscuits aren’t just snacks… they’re survival tools ☕🍪
A little laugh, moan, and the occasional cry — plus her amazing colleagues — get her through the day.

❤️ Why Rachael loves working in care:
She loves getting out to visit people and seeing the difference our wonderful carers and office staff make every day. She genuinely cares about the people in it.

Sometimes families get in touch with us because they’re worried about a loved one — but aren’t sure if it’s “time for care” yet.

Support doesn’t have to mean big changes.

It can start with:
💬 A weekly companionship visit
🛒 Help with shopping or getting out the house
☕ A friendly check-in for reassurance
🚗 Support to appointments

Often, a small amount of help early on keeps people independent for longer and gives families peace of mind.

Hi, I’m Mia Galley – Care Coordinator

🕒 Length of service: 6 months

In my role, I work across both services supporting older adults as well as children and young people. I really enjoy building strong relationships with clients and staff so everyone feels supported and listened to.

My role includes:
📋 Carrying out care plan reviews and new client meetings
🎓 Supporting and delivering staff training
🍽️ Organising our monthly meal club for social time together
🤝 Making sure care is always person-centred and up to date

💛 Why I love working in care:
I love being able to make a meaningful difference. I take pride in ensuring care is well planned and delivered with compassion, helping people feel safe, valued and understood while living with dignity and confidence.

😊 Fun fact:
I’m bubbly, kind and caring — usually the one bringing the smiles and positive vibes!

I’m really proud to be part of the team 💛

Meet Liz Morris – Care Coordinator

🕒 Length of service: 14 years

Liz spends much of her time out and about visiting clients, supported living houses and carrying out staff observations — her favourite part of the job!
When she’s in the office, she audits visit record sheets, giving her a real insight into our clients’ lives, and helps with the day-to-day running of the older adults department (as well as covering calls when needed!).

💛 Why Liz loves working in care:
“I love meeting people and hearing about their lives so this is the perfect role for me. Most of our clients are an inspiration and bring more enjoyment into my life 😊”

😂 Fun fact:
Liz enjoys a daily “discussion” with the printer — colleagues are very used to the rants… followed by a good laugh afterwards!
