Keith Kinrade-Thomas Podiatry turned 15 years old this week, where has the time gone? ⏳

Mrs Keith has had a fun morning looking through all the old business photos from over the years and getting ‘all nostalgic’. 📸

Running your own business can be a bit daunting at times and it’s not been easy for Keith these last few years, especially figuring out how to keep things going while dealing with his illness. 🤒

Massive thanks to all our lovely patients for sticking with us over the years and big thanks to all our friends and family who have supported the business as it’s grown and helped us out during the ‘bumpy times’ lately - we couldn’t do it without you! 🥰

It’s a whole year today since Keith’s big gastric surgery and while we are very pleased he is on the road to recovery now it is not an experience either of us would like to repeat! 🤞

The prospect of a big surgery is enough to make anyone feel uneasy but after spending 15 years building up a private business from scratch, Keith had the added worry of all the time off work that his full recuperation would likely need. 🤕

When his planned 6 weeks recovery turned into over 6 months recovery we really did start to despair but instead of complaining about rearranging clinics and house visits our lovely customers have been nothing but thoughtful and kind. We’ve had so many ring up just to check how Keith is doing and say ‘don’t rush back to work, take the time you need we’ll be waiting for you when you’re back fighting fit’. The ‘patience of our patients’ has really warmed our hearts. 🥰

We would also like to say an especially big thank you to our wonderful Pod-friend Jo for stepping in and pretty much keeping the business running on her own for the second half of 2024. We don’t know where we would be without your support, the patients love you and you’re always a ray of sunshine when Keith is having difficulties. 🌞

Keith is now building back up to full time work, you might spot him around town in his new very colourful work shoes ready for hopefully a healthier, happier Summer this year! 👟

Just a little update for all our lovely patients. 👋🏻

Keith’s surgery last week was thankfully a success and after 11 days recovery in hospital he’s now back home safe and sound, enjoying a diet of mostly yoghurt, scrambled egg and strained chicken soup. 🥣

He will now recover further at home, in a couple of weeks he’ll be allowed to start trying solid food and will hopefully return to full health and full-time work by next month. 💪🏻

In the meantime we have cover arranged for when Keith is busy ‘convalescing’, so if you feel in pain and like you can’t wait until he’s back please get in touch and we will do our best to get you the treatment you need. ☎️

P.s. never trust your wife to pack your hospital bag. You may wake up fresh from surgery to find the only pyjamas you have packed to wear are specially made ones with her crazy face printed all over them! Mrs Keith is quite fond of a prank, he should have guessed she’d be up to something. 🤣

So that’s a wrap on our last treatment for the next 6 weeks at least! 👋🏻

Next week Keith will be undergoing much needed gastric bypass surgery to finally fix his damaged stomach and he’s been advised to stay off work until mid-June to allow adequate time to heal and to train his stomach to eat solids again. 🤕

We want to say a big thank you to all our lovely customers who have excitedly been asking him about his procedure these last few weeks and wishing him all their luck and support. It’s been a tough 6 years trying to run a business whilst fighting a chronic illness and you’ve all been so patient and understanding if he’s had to rearrange a clinic at short notice because he was too unwell or even when he’s forgotten (😅) a home appointment because he was exhausted. We have the kindest patients! 🥰

We had a great first clinic at The Caerphilly Miners Centre yesterday afternoon and it’s really heart warming to have our business associated with a building that is so rich in heritage and significant in the history of Caerphilly. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Both Keith and Mrs Keith are proud Miners Hospital babies, born just 50 hours apart there many moons ago. Keith likes to pretend that Mrs Keith sat up in her cot (as a newborn who couldn’t support her own head 🙄), took one look at him, decided he was the man for her and stalked him ever since until they were married! Whatever you say Keith… 🤣

Hello again patients, we mentioned a few weeks ago that if Keith continued his recovery, he would be returning to his Caerphilly clinics by the end of the Summer… well we’re very excited to let you all know Keith has a brand-new clinic opening next month! 🥳

Launching on the 16th of July, in association with Back2you Osteopathy, Keith will be conducting a weekly clinic every Friday afternoon at the Caerphilly Miners Centre (previously this clinic was held at Lewis Opticians). ⛏

The Caerphilly Miners Centre is on the bus route, has ample parking and features newly refurbished clinical suites (on the ground and first floor) with a lift to offer our patients full disabled access.👨🏻‍🦽

Hello patients, you may have noticed we’ve been a bit quiet on here these last 6 months. A lot of you will know already that Keith has been quite ill for the last 3 and a half years and his health has taken a particular nose-dive during this last year of lockdown. 🤕

As some of you may know already he was gearing up to have a big scary surgery this Spring to finally have his stomach fixed but in April we received a different diagnosis that could be treated with a much less invasive procedure (phew!). 😅

He had the first of these procedures at the start of May and we’re really pleased to report there’s been drastic improvement in his health already. It’s still early days but if he continues on the same trajectory we’ll be looking to start reopening his Caerphilly based clinics and have him returning to working full-time hours by the end of the Summer. 👏🏻

Thank you again for the ‘Get Well Soon’ cards, well-wishes and understanding while he has been poorly, we just wanted to update you with our cautiously optimistic good news and let you know to keep an eye out for developments and further details on our social media over the next few weeks and months. 👀
