Aber Medical Centre Information page regarding services provided by the Surgery

22/04/2026

Following yesterday’s post regarding a vehicle that was reported as being illegally parked, we would like to address some of the concerns raised.

There were comments suggesting that sensitive personal information may have been shared. It is important to clarify that, in general, personal details such as a name or address cannot be directly obtained from a vehicle registration number by members of the public. Access to this kind of information is restricted to authorised organisations (such as law enforcement and relevant agencies) and is protected under data protection laws. Simply seeing or sharing a registration plate does not allow someone to identify the individual owner.

However, the owner of the vehicle chose to comment publicly and, in doing so, shared information that could be considered sensitive. This highlights how easily personal details can be disclosed online, sometimes unintentionally.

While this page represents Aber Medical Centre, it is important to remember that it is a public platform. Content posted here can be viewed by anyone, including individuals outside of our local community.

This serves as an important reminder about social media safety. Even well-intentioned posts or comments can carry risks, and it is always worth considering what information you are sharing and who may be able to see it.

Meningitis B
We are receiving a high volume of calls regarding the outbreak of Meningitis B in Kent.

We understand that the news has caused concern, but we have not had any information from the Health Board regarding any plans for a catch-up programme. The MenACWY vaccine will not protect against this strain of Meningitis B.

Men B is given to babies at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and a Booster at 1 year since this started in 2015.

MenACWY is given to children in year 9 and can be given to patients up to 25 if they have missed it in school.

If there are any updates from Public Health Wales, we will be sure to keep you informed.

Thank you

A (NOT SO) POLITE NOTICE
To the irresponsible dog owner who allowed their dog to p**p right outside the surgery front door and made no attempt to clean it - Shameful!
As you may be aware, dog faeces poses significant health risks to humans that can lead to stomach aches, fevers and even blindness.
Thankfully our patients avoided the smears all over the pavement and did not drag it into the building, but had that happened, we would have had no option but close surgery for the day while we used bleaching chemicals to ensure all risks were eradicated. We are not allowed to use bleach when cleaning, due to the health risks it causes to people with respiratory illnesses.
We did have to scrub the pavement outside the front door thanks to your irresponsible behaviour however.
A huge thank you to the kind patient who offered to clean it for us, we appreciated your kind offer but would not expect you to do that.
Please dog owner, have a little consideration to those around you!
Monday morning rant over 🙂
