I was sent this screenshot ๐ Flu, Covid, Bronchitis, ManFlu ...whatever it is...here are some tips. Feel free to use/ignore, share or save.
As you may have experienced, some people seem to be 'floored' by it, others seem to be back and up in a few days.
Getting the flu, especially during seasonal changes, is not a disease. It is adjusting to the change. If Mother Nature adjusts by shedding it leaves, who are we to think we can just keep going as if it is full-on summer season?
How do you adjust to change? DO you slow down? Or just he very mention of slowing down, makes you say 'well, love some can't afford to slow down' ๐ . Sadly, sometimes the body will slow you down with an illness, so why not do it voluntarily?
Whether it is flu or another virus....
๐ Cut out sugar, if that freaks you out, cut down on it (whaaaat, with Halloween, with Thanksgiving, with all the celebrations that involve sugar and alcohol....it is all about choices we make)
๐ Cut out alcohol (at least for winter), if just reading that triggers you, ask why?
๐ Move your body, get sweating...I am not referring to the crazy hit, cardio, adrenal 'busting' movement, just some walks in nature, get your heart rate up and enjoy the shift in season
๐ GO TO SLEEP on time, avoid getting caught up in doomscrolling
๐ Have a bedtime routine, start reading a paperback before bed, avoid reading on a screen
๐ Ensure your bedroom is cooler than the rest of the house (this is not just for the menopausal creatures ๐, I feel you)
๐ Make some hearty stews (get that goodness into the 'bones') if you are in this side of the world,
๐ Make homemade broth
๐ Open the windows, air the rooms
๐ Go for nature walks, enjoy listening to the birds, the rustling of the leaves
๐ Have herbal infusions, instead of dehydrating drinks. My favourite at this time of the year are thyme infusions ๐ฅ Steep 1โ2 tsp dried thyme (or a small handful fresh) per cup of boiling water, cover for 10โ15 mins, strain. You can add honey and lemon for a throat-soothing, immune-boosting twist.
Winter is a time of hibernation, slowing down; it should not be a time for spraying kids' noses with a live attenuated influenza vaccine, but slowing their after-school clubs, slowing their morning routine, allowing outdoor play, not stuffy, heated rooms 24-7.
And further add to the above tips...get the
๐ Free flu season guide and implement the advise (you may just have a better winter) https://e-newschoolofnutrition.com/flu-season
๐ Invest in the Rapid Relief Homeopathy Book (as once you get the 'lurgies' you can see yourself through with some remedies (the book covers flu, coughs, chest infections, over-indulging etc) https://www.newschoolofnutrition.com/product-page/rapid-relief-homeopathy-book
And remember the immune system is 'alive and kicking', it needs nourishing, as it needs the 'tools' from your lifestyle to be able to 'help' you.
To healthy seasonal changes ๐
