VE Day commemorates 8th May 1945, when the war in Europe ended. It was a day of huge celebration, with people singing, dancing, and coming together after years of hardship.

Bridget and Lois were absolutely amazing today as we came together to celebrate International Day — and this month’s theme was Texas 🇺🇸✨
And really… how could we celebrate Texas without cowboy boots, hats, a whole lot of country music, and plenty of dancing? 💃🕺

Our residents had a fantastic time, joined by families, staff, and our wonderful local school. The room was full of smiling faces, with everyone singing along, clapping, tapping their feet, and even getting up for a dance 🤍

🎵 Did you know?
Country music is all about storytelling — many songs are inspired by real-life experiences like love, family, hard work, and home. That’s why it’s so easy to sing along and feel connected… the music speaks straight to the heart ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day so special. Moments like these are what create lasting memories and bring our community together 🤠🎶✨

💛 Yesterday at Cherry Tree was full of smiles and gentle fun! 💛

Our residents enjoyed a lovely table-top ball activity, thoughtfully created by Lois, our Activity Coordinator 🌟
Using simple props, this activity encouraged hand–eye coordination, focus, and light movement, all at a relaxed pace — perfect for keeping minds and hands active 😊

Moments like these show that it’s often the simplest ideas that bring the most joy 💫

Special Visit from Luna – Our Four-Legged Friend 🐾

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome a very special visitor to Cherry Tree Care Home – Luna, a beautiful 3-year-old Golden Retriever. 🐶💛

Luna brought so much joy, comfort, and laughter to both residents and staff. Her gentle nature, wagging tail, and friendly presence created wonderful moments of connection and happiness throughout the home.

Visiting animals like Luna play an important role in human wellbeing. They can help reduce stress and anxiety, encourage conversation, spark memories, and bring emotional comfort. For many residents, animal visits also provide a sense of companionship and calm, enhancing overall quality of life.

At Cherry Tree Care Home, we warmly welcome visits from pets, as we recognise the positive impact they have on our residents’ wellbeing. However, to ensure the safety and health of everyone in the home, all vaccination records must be provided in advance to Sharon before any animal visit is arranged.

At Cherry Tree Care Homes, we’re looking for friendly gardening volunteers to help us keep our residents’ garden looking lovely and welcoming 🌿

If you enjoy a bit of fresh air, plants, and good company, this could be perfect for you! Your role would be to keep an eye on the garden and help ensure it’s a beautiful space our residents can enjoy every single day 🌼

💙 Support Chloe’s incredible challenge this May 💖

Chloe is taking on an amazing mission — running 50K throughout May to raise vital funds for Sands, supporting families affected by the heartbreak of baby loss.

At Cherry Tree Care Home, we are proud to stand behind her and support this meaningful cause. Chloe works with us as a host, and she brings so much warmth, kindness, and smiles to our residents every day. 💛

This challenge is deeply personal, dedicated in loving memory of baby Lucas 🩵🦋 and baby Florence 💖🌸, and all babies gone too soon.

Bridget had a fun-filled afternoon with our residents, playing with balloons and sharing lots of laughter.
As always, there was a secret little competition between residents — full of smiles, cheering, and friendly rivalry! 🎉

Playing together brings so much joy because it encourages movement, sparks memories, strengthens friendships, and reminds us that fun has no age limit. Moments like these truly brighten everyone’s day ❤️
