I didn’t use to pay much attention to breakfast, I’d grab some fruit with yoghurt or toast with butter and be on my way for the day but since my endo diagnosis I’ve taken more time to plan for breakfasts that include more variety, less sugar and more protein and fibre 🤍

Think yesterday’s leftovers (baked salmon, chicken or tofu) or include eggs for a quick & easy morning protein boost 💗

Try it and see how it makes you feel ✨

In case you’re needing a Monday hug 🤍

It’s so easy to fall into the trap of comparing, looking over your shoulder to what others are doing, what they’ve achieved in the last year, what their recovery looks like or how they’re managing their symptoms but hold onto the thought that what’s most important is 💗your path 💗 and staying true to what your body & soul need.

I love reflexology & the way experiencing deep relaxation can help me tune into knowing when my anxiety or stress levels are escalating so I can take proactive steps to mitigate, to help swerve the spiralling. Health coaching I’ve received has helped me refine & sustain these steps focusing on the obstacles & behaviours/habits that are working against me. This is why I’m offering a dreamy combined package of reflexology & health coaching from January to bring these lovely benefits together 💕

Let’s hope the dreamy pastel skies return before then, the rain & mist seem to have taken over in the last week!

There’s so much I wish I’d known before my excision surgery in 2019 & my hysterectomy/oopherectomy 2 years later, which put me into surgical menopause. It was so hard to find accurate information & the support I needed. I ended up going down several rabbit holes to find the resources that would make me feel more informed about what I was going through but I was surprised & disheartened that this information wasn’t more readily available. This is why I wanted to help other women navigating similar experiences so that I could bring together the things that helped me find my way through it & that still help me now, & ultimately support others find those things that help them most 🤍

What do you wish you had known? What has helped you the most?

While there’s always a lot happening this month, December is our quiet invitation to reflect on the year and plant seeds for the coming year ahead 🌱

Managing stress, chronic illness or the hormonal fluctuations of menopause can bring a rollercoaster of highs and lows so being kind with ourselves as we reflect can lay the foundations for making nourishing plans for pausing, recharging & feeling refreshed for navigating the new year.

I’ll be continuing to focus on the lifestyle steps that help me manage my symptoms including supporting gut health, my SIBO protocols & my passion for nutrition (especially gluten free baking!). I’ll also be taking steps to support bone health & strength building following my recent diagnosis of osteopenia & arthritis while giving myself time & space to process & adjust to this. My go-to personal strategy is quiet time in nature & capturing moments like these 🤎📷

What I’m most looking forward to in January is opening up my cosy, restorative wellness space nestled in the beautiful Hope Valley in the Peak District National Park where you can enjoy deeply relaxing reflexology treatments to help you find calm, & health coaching to help you navigate endometriosis, menopause & stress. I’m currently developing a gorgeous package combining reflexology & health coaching which will also be available from January 🤍

Which will you choose? If you’d like to find out more I’d love to hear from you - send me a DM or take a look at my website (link in my bio) where you can book your free discovery call. Online & print gift vouchers are also available ✨

Do you find the winter months more challenging? 🤍 The cold, damp & shorter days we have here in the UK can magnify symptoms of endo or menopause while the pull to hibernate means social connection can feel more of an effort. If any of this resonates, here are my favourite steps for navigating winter:

🍂 keep moving - a short walk or gentle yoga or Pilates each day supports mood & pain management (alleviating inflammation & lubricating joints). Wear warm layers & keep the kidneys warm (in my reflexology I’ve noticed that kidney reflexes on the feet can often become cold/damp or low in energy in winter)
🍂 nourish well - warming foods like soups with a bone broth base bring comfort & support gut health. I love low fodmap broth (great if you’re limiting onion & garlic for SIBO management), I add fresh ginger & other warming spices for anti-inflammatory support
🍂 daily self-massage - using a body brush after showering or applying a cream with soothing essential oils for lymphatic circulation, shifting stagnant blood (alleviating pain) & detoxification (aiding hormone balance). I love skin food (the orange oil is uplifting) & Naturals calm range with lavender & chamomile
🍂 boost vit D - spend time outside in the daylight, enjoy sunrise & sunset on sunnier days (also great for nervous system regulation & sleep support). Consider supplementing but always have your levels checked & seek advice from your health professional
🍂 stay connected - reach out to friends or family who understand your situation & symptoms. If getting out feels too much or travelling isn’t an option video calls can be a lovely alternative

We were gifted a bright sunny (freezing!) day on Arran earlier this week so I had my morning cuppa outside watching sunrise before soaking up the sun on a beach walk. We chased the sun to catch sunset over Goat Fell (scroll to the last images!). I feel like I’m still feeling the benefit ✨

Would you add anything?

Sending love x

This place is magical 🤍🤍🤍

We first discovered Arran the year after my hysterectomy, 3 years ago. The peace and natural beauty feel so nourishing and have been a big part of my journey moving forwards from excision surgery, hysterectomy and the plunge into surgical menopause that followed.

What brings joy can really shift with perimenopause and menopause. Since being in menopause I’m drawn to quiet and a slower pace, after all menopause is known as our winter season in our hormone lifecycle - a time for hibernation and prioritising what nurtures our souls and boosts our wellness ❄️

Knowing I’ll be in this season for the long haul and that surgical menopause isn’t a passing phase took a lot of getting used to but I found great comfort knowing that the simplicity of nature and its changing seasons can bring so much joy 🍂

Do you have a place that has stolen your heart? Has finding joy changed as you navigate perimenopause or menopause?

I always knew I felt better for having a reflexology treatment, doing some yoga on my mat or taking a walk outside in nature but it was only when I completed my reflexology & women’s health coach training that I discovered the science behind how these activities support nervous system regulation, & why this can help navigate chronic stress, chronic illness or chronic pain (or all 3 of these).

I started having regular reflexology over 10 years ago with the brilliant initially to find relief from hormonal migraines. 6 weeks before my excision surgery for endo I had a weekly course of reflexology with the wonderful .womenshealth to provide much needed emotional support & navigate the pelvic pain & fatigue that had become daily. Since my reflexology training I regularly exchange treatments with a lovely friend & fellow reflexologist who, like me, has endo & recently had a hysterectomy, so reflexology remains part of my DNA 💗

These techniques in isolation aren’t a silver bullet & endo & surgical menopause can keep throwing new challenges that might need different support. What works is always individual & this can change over time. I’ve recently been navigating investigations into bone density loss & joint health since my hysterectomy & it’s encouraged me to review my go-to techniques with a sense of kindness for my body.

What are your favourite techniques? And how can you extend kindness to your body and all it’s been through?

My reflexology services will be available again in the new year when my cosy treatment space is ready here in the Hope Valley. If you’d like to find out more, take a look at my website (link in my bio) or send me a DM 👣

Here’s your gentle reminder to plan something for you this week, something that nourishes you, something that gives you the chance to press pause so that you can navigate all the other stuff and be all the other things you need to be 🤍

What will you choose? What tweaks can you make to your weekly routine so that this can become a regular thing? 🤍

As the trees let go of their leaves and the very last signs of summer start to fade what are you letting go of to feel lighter as we move into winter? 🍂

I’m missing the longer summer evenings and opportunities for an evening walk but am leaning into the season for slowing down and enjoying nature’s transition through autumn/fall. I’m still moving but in different ways, like some yoga or other gentle movement on my mat at home after work and grasping the opportunities for walks outside when I can. This was a lovely walk early this week after a morning Dr’s appointment.

Having endo and being in surgical menopause means regular visits to the GP, blood tests and hospital and walking afterwards is my favourite way to decompress. Do you have a favourite place where you can pause and just breathe?

If you’d like help finding your way through all that comes with having endo I can work with you compassionately - take a look at my website to see my women’s health coaching packages or book your free discovery call to find out more 🤍 From the new year my deeply relaxing reflexology treatments will be available again and from my new calming wellness space in the Peak District, if you’d like to find out more I’d love to hear from you ⛰️

Wishing you a restorative weekend x

A lovely friend came over today. We met 15 years ago through our shared love of yoga & became good friends. We used to meet regularly for walks in the Peak District & over the years shared our experiences of heavy painful periods & other symptoms like migraine, anaemia & fatigue alongside our experiences of being told we were “just unlucky” & it was “nothing to worry about” when we sought medical advice. We’ve each since been diagnosed with endometriosis & had hysterectomies, so we not only became close friends but endo & surgical menopause sisters.

Keeping connections when you have endo is hard, not knowing when flare ups are going to strike can make planning difficult & cancelling plans can leave you feeling really low, but connections like these have helped me navigate endo & all that comes with it 💗

Anti-inflammatory nutrition & gut health are important to us both for managing symptoms so I prepared some nourishing snacks:

🤎 A trail mix of nuts, dark chocolate (no refined sugar) & seeds - seeds can be varied to support seed cycling if you still have your period
🤎 Ginger & tahini cookies - ginger is a great anti-inflammatory ingredient. Tahini & almond flour add protein, healthy fats & calcium 🦴
🤎 Dates - for fibre, digestion support (where tolerated) & an energy boost. I can tolerate deglet nour dates occasionally as part of my SIBO protocols (they’re lower in sugar than medjools).

The trail mix can be stored in a jar for a slow energy release, gut health & blood sugar regulating snack when you’re on the go. I take it to work as a post lunch snack🤎 Preparing in bulk can also be more cost effective.

I’ll be sharing details of my gut loving trail mix in my seasonal newsletter Thrive later this month. You can sign up on my website (link in bio!) 🤎

With love x
