A original short childrenโ€™s-story of how, healthy attachments & relationships re-design our neuronal pathways on the inside๐Ÿง

I am an experienced trauma informed practitioner, designing creative, personalised re-wiring after: bad experiences, shock, grief and childhood trauma- which leaves un healthy attachment patterns which can break down relationships.

If children are-not allowed to be emotionally or physically safe their body becomes hardwired for stress and survival. When they finally find safety, they need longer term personalised support to make sense of their experiences, separate blame, guilt&learning healthy connections.

๐Ÿ‘ฅRelationship difficulties can also show with becoming a parent/ step parent/guardian-childrenโ€™s emotions can be triggering for individuals whom have not been allowed to be vulnerable or show emotions. This changes interactions with children creating another stress/ trauma cycle. We call this intergenerational trauma.

๐Ÿง  Our brain is made up of neuroplasticity - meaning even as adults it can regrow neuronโ€™s with dedication and consistency.

๐ŸŒฑ In Early childhood the brain develops its blue print:if most of what it receives is healthy, this is the core software and if mostly negative, it creates gaps, barriers, avoidance& chronic health difficulties as it will need a software update.

๐Ÿซ‚Working with children/families as a whole, experiencing difficulties from any past events, anger, difficult extreme behaviour caused by: trauma, grief, neurodivergence, school systems/ refusal, anxiety, low mood,&having lived in/escaped family violence- long term outcomes can be positive. With help.

๐Ÿ”โŒ Healthy Cycles can be re learnt. If we for the next generation we can create a culture of regulated, young people with confidence, aspirations, self respect, empathy&accountability so in adulthood there are more consistent, positive and long term healthier outcomes in their lives and their connections at:
School, uni, work, romantic relationships, colleagues, neighbours, medical professionals and so on.

โœ๏ธ Remembrance Day began as a way to commemorate the end of World War One.

๐Ÿ•š At 11am on 11 November 1918, the armistice began.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Today Armistice Day is used to remember all the people who have died in all wars since.
This year also marks 80 years since World War Two ended, in 1945.

๐ŸŒบ Poppies are worn / laid/ displayed, to signify our respect. Poppy seeds lay dormant until disturbed by fighting, which churned the soil and brought the seeds to the surface where they could germinate. The soil was enriched with calcium and nitrogen from the shattered buildings and explosives, creating optimal conditions for the poppies to flourish bringing colour over the war entrenched landscapes.

๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ• ๐Ÿฆ Additionally purple poppies also highlight the animals, whom were sadly also lost, and their many roles in the war- especially communications. ๐Ÿ’œ

Facebook has ensured I saw this inspiring neurodivergent man, who has written a childrenโ€™s book about ADHD and has now made a petition aiming to reach parliament, to make it statutory to allow movement and sensory breaks for neurodivergent children, to stop having breaks removed and needs punished, to further ensure needs are met with further legislative backing.

It does Need 100,000 signs. I have already signed it.

I will add petition link in first comment.

I was only posting about this earlier. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ Please support and share ๐Ÿ”„ Thankyou. โ˜บ๏ธ

Children learn through play and their senses- most children can cope with minimal sensory input but still rely on regular movement breaks.
As adults we still need to utilise play, breaks and sensory mindfulness to help us stop and regulate.

So why is it that children are expected to not need more breaks - when they are learning skills - modelled by the adults?

When there are children who are sensory seeking, the assumption that they only need planned breaks in line with the organisationโ€™s routine - which does not fit particular needs.

Our senses regulate us and our nervous system. There are actually 7 sensory systems:

- Tactile
- Auditory
- Visual
- Gustatory
- Olfactory
- Proprioception
- Vestibular

When these are not met, children seek it through innate sensory seeking behaviours, which in society can be seen as โ€˜rudeโ€™ โ€˜disruptiveโ€™ โ€˜ or โ€˜NOT paying attention?โ€™ Etc. These children can develop emotional and sensory distress and overwhelm: lowered self esteem, low mood, anxiety and deep shame alongside difficulties learning/ socialising- because their basic needs are not being met to learn.

Eventually we get: school meetings, legal fear frameworks, exclusions and school refusals. All punitive to the child and family- when the childโ€™s basic needs have perhaps not been known to be supported?Removing thier right and access to education.

Recovering from trauma can also reduce the capacity to use executive functioning and can also look like neurodiversity.

If youโ€™d like help to identify, support to attend meetings to re shape the plans for your child and how their over all needs should be being met to enable them to:

โœจ Attend school.
โœจ Feel safe and relaxed.
โœจ Feel heard and able to access education - in a way that is right for them?
โœจ Be able to BE THEMSELVES with pride. ๐Ÿ’—

Today, . I had the privilege in advocating on behalf of a family, using a childโ€™s voice and holistic needs, in a school meeting to best support sustainable positive change.

Mental and physical wellbeing come hand in hand and are as equally important as each other- particularly difficult where there are illnesses, restrictions and pain to manage while still moving to manage day to day.

Learning to tell: ourselves, our children, friends and loved ones that our feelings are valid and matter: strength will appear by reaching out,to reciprocate care, compassion and sitting with the thoughts and feelings and talking about them, as they are key.

Flipping cultural harm to โ€˜man upโ€™ to hide tears and distance from emotions or hide still needs highlighting and change.

By reaching for support, through sitting in silence, talking, walking, art, learning individual grounding and coping strategies, including what is within our own limit to control and accept, your mental health and goals, will be valued even more when you re-gain control- with the right support and person centred care.

prioritises the vulnerable families and students who struggle to feel heard and supported and feel alone with un-met needs which often escalate into frustration and anger- and school refusal while they are not supported adequately.

Classrooms can feel difficult to fit in, isolating and overwhelming when childrenโ€™s/ young peopleโ€™s needs are not understood also stopping meaningful learning and crucial positive social interactions and friendships forming- developing into: loneliness, isolation, low mood, anxiety, and longer term struggles with managing for the individuals and wider families.

โ„น๏ธ My support can include identifying un-met needs, past trauma triggers, emotional regulation, including what could be causing: anger, frustration, academic struggles, school refusal and difficult behaviour at home.

๐Ÿก Pace based Therapeutic Parenting..โšง๏ธ
.Is a highly nurturing, strength based and structured approach, designed to support children who have had adverse childhood experiences, such as: trauma, neglect, abuse, or disrupted attachment.

๐Ÿ‘คDesigned in line with attachment theory and trauma-informed care, therapeutic parenting focuses on: building trust, emotional regulation, and secure attachments. To include our own journey, responses and gaining a shared understanding of our child and how to respond.

What is PACE?

๐Ÿซ‚The PACE model, was developed by clinical psychologist Dr. Dan Hughes, is a foundational framework within Therapeutic Parenting.
PACE stands for Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy. Each element plays a critical role in creating emotional safety and supporting healing from childhood trauma.

๐Ÿ‘ฅPACE supports parents & carers, in family /individual therapy and also professionals in: schools, social care and fostering. Creating individualised compassionate, trauma-sensitive-interactions, embedding consistent plans and contributing to a more holistic healing journey.

๐ŸŒฑ PACE is used in:homes, schools, and therapeutic environments to strengthen emotional connection and attachment. Fostering: validation, trust, healthier connections and improved mental health and wellbeing, developing healthier abilities to find and be oneself, find joy, focus, develop and thrive.

๐Ÿ’ก Designing care to meet chronological and developmental ages as these can differ depending on specific needs or trauma experienced and when in a personโ€™s life- the gaps left in development and emotional literacy, often cause difficulties. PACE can identify and hugely improve progress and healing- while rebuilding: attachment, strength, validation, self confidence and advocacy.

๐ŸŽจ ๐ŸŽญ ๐ŸซŸโ™Ÿ๏ธ Playfulness also includes the arts and play opportunities, even simply playful therapeutic interactions or adding mediums to: awaken the subconscious and humour, giving permission for individual expression through ( and not limited to) a third person such as: stories, puppetry, sand tray narrative therapy, writing and acting out a screen play/ comics, journaling- and more. I am also trained in writing therapeutic stories to mirror and assist in trauma processing.

I have had the privilege to attend PACE conferences with Dan Hughes and pride myself in my ability to incorporate PACE as my golden thread and see it as a foundation of best practice.

โœจ If you feel that Therapeutic Parenting and therapeutic individual sessions could help you, your child, or adolescent, please get in touch.
