It’s been 12 years since I wrote my master’s dissertation on power dynamics in maternity care, and at least 8 since I last stood in front of a group of students to talk about philosophy. Back then I was teaching sixth formers, but today I travelled up to Sheffield Hallam University to deliver a lecture to a group of third-year midwifery students on the intersection of philosophy and midwifery.

We talked about feminism, epistemic injustice, phenomenology, ethics, and birth. It was pretty niche (and I might have broken a few brains in the process!) 😅

I was so nervous driving up there this morning, but I can honestly say I loved every minute. 😁

💛 Doula Café at the Happy Mama Hub 💛

Are you preparing for birth or adjusting to life with a newborn? Looking for a space where you can ask questions, chat openly, or simply sip a warm drink without expectations? Pop down to The Happy Mama Hub on Tuesday 25th Feb between 11.30am - 1pm and join us.

This relaxed session is hosted by local doulas, and the café will be open as usual—so come along, grab a slice of cake or some lunch, and connect with other local parents in a welcoming space.

At the Doula Café, we’re here to hold space for you—whether you want to ask questions, explore your options, or simply share how you're feeling over a cuppa. We don’t offer medical advice, but we do offer a steady, reassuring presence to help you feel more informed, confident, and supported on your journey.

Have you recently given birth (or are you currently pregnant and expecting to give birth) at the Rosie in Cambridge? I've been hired as project lead on a new policy they are creating on informed consent and choice. I'm recruiting service users for a focus group (it's just a whatsapp group) so I can seek your opinions on the policy as it develops.
Apart from doing me a massive favour this is an exciting opportunity to influence a policy that I hope will make a massive positive difference to the experiences of women and families in Cambridgeshire. Please could you comment below or DM me if you would like to be added?

Birthrights is 10 years old and I am currently on a train heading down to London to celebrate with my friends and colleagues. 😁

This amazing charity campaigns tirelessly for the rights of women and birthing people. They have achieved incredible things in the last 10 years and I am unbelievably proud to work with them as an associate legal trainer.
