We are short on doctors today so have fewer appointments than normal on a Monday. We will help as many as possible but you may be signposted to another service which can help with your symptoms.

We will be closed from 2pm on Tuesday 21st October 2025 for regional protected learning time. We will therefore only have appointments this morning and the online form and phones will close at 2pm. If you have a life threatening emergency please contact 999. If you have an urgent issue that cannot wait until we are open as usual on Wednesday 22nd October please contact 111. Thank you

Morning. Unfortunately due to doctor sickness we are extremely short of appointments today and will be able to deal with immediately necessary issues. We will help as many people as we can but we are limited on resources so please bear with us. Please consider using other routes of care, if appropriate, such as pharmacies. Many thanks. Unfortunately, we have a sickness bug going around the staff at Firs House and are therefore short on appointments today. We will try to help as many as possible but it may not be possible to see everyone. Thank you for your understanding.

NHS FLU AND COVID VACCINATIONS AT THE SURGERY
We will be sending direct booking links to those eligible for flu & Covid vaccinations shortly. Where possible please use the link to book your appointment to ensure the phone lines are kept clear for patients needing medical help and advice. The invites will be sent in batches so those in the same household may receive them at different times. If you are eligible for Covid we will be offering this at the same time as your flu vaccination, the eligibility criteria for the Autumn covid booster is as follows:

are aged 75 or over
are aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment
live in a care home for older adults

We are unable to vaccinate anyone with covid outside of these criteria and will only be offering it alongside the flu vaccination.

The criteria for a flu vaccination for Autumn 25 is:

From 1 September 2025:

pregnant women
all children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2025
primary school aged children (from Reception to Year 6 - will be offered in school)
secondary school aged children (from Year 7 to Year 11 - will be offered in school )
all children in clinical risk groups aged from 6 months to less than 18 years

From October 2025, exact start date to be confirmed by NHS England in due course:

those aged 65 years and over
those aged 18 years to under 65 years in clinical risk groups (as defined by the Green Book, Influenza chapter 19 )
those in long-stay residential care homes
carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
frontline workers in a social care setting without an employer led occupational health scheme including those working for a registered residential care or nursing home, registered domiciliary care providers, voluntary managed hospice providers and those that are employed by those who receive direct payments (personal budgets) or Personal Health budgets, such as Personal Assistants

Firs House Surgery will be offering clinics at both Histon and Cottenham sites in October to give eligible patients their flu and covid vaccinations. We will be arranging these clinics very shortly and will send out a booking link for you to use to make your appointment. Many thanks

Unfortunately, we have clinical staff off sick today which has left us short on appointments and the phone lines are very busy, we answered over 100 calls in the first 30 minutes. We are trying to help as many people as we can but with limited appointments we can only see those who are most in need of urgent help today. Please accept our apologies if we are unable to see you for an appointment today.
