What is a parent carer forum?
Parent Carer Forums (often called PCFs) are independent groups of parents and carers of children and young people (aged 0–25) who have special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
They’re pan-disability meaning they represent all types of needs - including physical and sensory impairments, learning disabilities, neurodivergent conditions such as autism and ADHD, as well as mental health and long-term health conditions.
There’s a Parent Carer Forum in every local authority area across England - around 153 in total. Each forum is made up of parents and carers who work alongside their local authority, ensuring that the voices and lived experiences of families are gathered, heard, and included in the planning, development, and delivery of local services.
Together, they help shape a more inclusive and supportive system for children and young people with SEND. 🌈
