This week, the Advanced Bionics team made a visit to the Design and Disability exhibition at the Victoria & Albert (V&A) Museum in London to experience the inspiring Deafmetal® exhibit firsthand.

Deafmetal® is an award-winning jewellery innovation for hearing devices, designed to personalise hearing technology while keeping devices secure — beautifully combining function, identity and self-expression.

We were proud to see Deafmetal® featuring the Advanced Bionics Marvel CI sound processor within her exhibit. It was a real privilege to see Advanced Bionics technology represented in such a meaningful and influential cultural space like the V&A.

The exhibition as a whole is powerful, inspiring and thought-provoking — a true celebration of Deaf, Disabled and neurodivergent communities, creativity and lived experience.

The Design and Disability exhibition runs until 15th February, so if you’re in London, it’s well worth a visit. ✨

Charlotte has been filmed by the RNID (Royal National Institute for Deaf People), where she talks openly about her tinnitus and the positive impact her cochlear implant processor has had on managing it.

Huge congratulations to AB cochlear implant wearer Rosie on becoming Tae Kwon-Do World Champion 2025. 🎉 Rosie’s family have shared her life-changing journey…

Rosie was once told that contact sports were too risky because of her cochlear implants. For a girl who loved movement, that felt like a heavy limit. But everything changed when a new consultant reassured her that sport was safe.

Rosie and her dad joined Solihull T.A.G.B. Tae Kwon-Do Club together, training side by side. The supportive environment gave her confidence, friendships, and a sense of achievement she hadn’t always found at school. Sport quickly became her outlet, her passion, and her way of proving to herself what she was capable of.

In just a year, Rosie’s dedication has taken her from her first grading to Best in Grading, English National Champion, Training with the England Squad and then World Champion 2025—competing among athletes from 23 countries.

Today, sport is Rosie’s pillar of strength. As she says: “I can’t live without sport—it helps my mental health and keeps me fit. I do it 24/7.”

With her AB cochlear implants, Rosie hasn’t just kept up—she’s soared, living life to the fullest and becoming a true champion. 🥋🏆

Thank you to Rosie and her family for sharing this story – what an inspiration! 👏

Huge congratulations to AB cochlear implant wearer and mentor Mark Turner! 🎉

Last month, Mark was crowned Farm Sprayer Operator of the Year – a truly outstanding achievement!

He described the win as a “nice experience,” especially after narrowly missing out in previous years. And it certainly wasn’t an easy path to the top. The competition kicked off all the way back in November and involved multiple rounds — including a final visit from the judges to inspect his sprayer and quiz him on his technique, just one week before the big reveal.

Well done, Mark — we’re incredibly proud of your success and perseverance. A well-deserved recognition! 👏

"I was born with normal hearing, but it began to slowly decline when I was around 9 years old. Fast forward and I got my first implant 2017, at the age of 45 - the AB Naída Q70. Early 2023, I got my second implant and was upgraded to Marvel CI on both ears. I did not actively chose AB on purpose. In Sweden it is a bit different, but one of my brothers got an implant roughly 1 year before me and he was very satisfied with his Naída Q70. So I asked the surgeon if I could chose the same one. I never regretted that choice.

Having a has impacted me in an extremely positive way! I can talk in phone again, which wasn't possible at all the last years before my first implant. My "normal me" is back on track again, meaning that the normal extrovert Robert is back. :-) If it wasn't for my precious implants, I'd never got the chance to live and work abroad. I've lived in North Carolina since 2023. And most importantly; I can listen to music again, which I do a lot🥰

The pictures are showing me swimming with my AquaCase and running a race with my Waterproof Battery." -

When Sue’s hearing aids weren’t enough to allow her to live her most fulfilling life, she began to research the benefits of cochlear implants. After seeking multiple opinions, she decided to get Advanced Bionics cochlear implants, which came with a supportive team and the ability to use Remote Programming.

"When my daughter Alana was just 4 years old and about to get her first cochlear implant, there was one thing she was looking forward to most of all... to be able to hear in the water.
A little water baby from the start, she spent most of her swimming lessons underwater, tumbling around and earned the nickname 'the washing machine' from her teacher. However it was tricky learning to swim without her hearing aids.

One of the main reasons we chose Advanced Bionics was for design of their waterproof cases, which we believed would be really safe and secure for all her water activities. Little did we realise at the time that one day she would be competing regularly in Artistic (aka synchronised) swimming competitions which would involve her diving, hanging upside down in the water for extended periods, lifting her teammates in a tower of multiple bodies underwater and oh, having her hair covered in gelatin!

We are so glad we made the decision to go with AB! Her incredible AB cochlear implants and their waterproof cases take multiple trips to the swimming pool each week and give her so much joy in letting her hear her teammates and coaches, and perform in time to the music. They get attached to her bun for competitions, and her goggles for normal training sessions, and the coaches use an FM system so she can hear instructions clearly (well, when she’s above water!).

Last year, Alana was part of Cheltenham Artistic Swimming Club's 12 and under team who performed and came third at the National Combo Club, following their win the South West regional competition the month before. Later in the year she also came away from Plymouth with medals in both figures and duets.
None of this would be possible without her amazing "ears". We are so grateful to Advanced Bionics for making it all possible. 💙”

Thank you so much for sharing your story – what an inspiration Alana! 👏
