⛑️ Box squats!!!

βœ… A great variation for anyone working through injury rehabilitation, as they place a lot less stress on the joints, especially the lower back area, hips / pelvis and knees! As you're keeping a more vertical shin angle πŸ‘Œ

βœ… Also a safer variation for athletes βš½πŸ€πŸ₯ŠπŸ‰πŸŽΎπŸŽ½πŸπŸ‘ who are "in season" with great reward but importantly low risk, still improve / maintain strength and develop force and power.

Physi-kal sports therapy ✨

πŸƒ With the coming up in a couple of weeks, a lot of runners will be in their final phases of prep and starting their taper down, this can be a great time to add in a "pre event massage" πŸ™Œ to aid recovery from training and prepare the body physically and mentally for the race, if you need some help/advice feel free to get in touch 🎽😊

πŸ‹οΈ Distance running is particularly hard on the body, especially for people newer to the sport, the continuous impact places a lot of stress on the muscles, joints and connective tissue....
Here are a few exercises you can easily add into your routine to aid your running and help reduce those niggling aches/pains.

1. Soleus raises (lower calf muscle takes more strain in distance running)
2. Hip hitch (targeting the smaller glute muscles to help stabilise the hip during running action)
3. Low to high plank (improve core strength and also upper body strength which is key in running)

☝️ Hope these help, and if you have any questions or want any information on "pre event massage" drop me a message πŸ™

⛑️ Physi-kal sports therapy ⛑️

Two other services I offer alongside sports massage therapy, is "DRY NEEDLING" and "DRY CUPPING"

Focusing on the "Dry needling" first...
This treatment is carried out by inserting really fine needles into painful knots (aka trigger points), which are areas of muscle fibers that are shortened, thickened/hardened. The treatment is particularly helpful for issues such as...
πŸ”ΉShoulder pain/reduced range of movement
πŸ”ΉBack pain (esp low back)
πŸ”ΉPlantar fascitis
πŸ”ΉITB syndrome
πŸ”Ή Migraine/headaches
πŸ”Ή Tendonitis (i.e. tennis/golfers elbow)

The needles help by relaxing the trigger point, improving blood flow, reducing inflammation, improving nerve connection & releasing the body's natural pain relievers.. Endorphins.

⛑️ In the video I'm working on a client with tennis elbow, using needling treatment, hands on friction work and dynamic rehab exercises ⛑️

😊 If you need any further information or would like to get some treatment, just get in touch πŸ€™πŸ™Œ

πŸ”₯ Feeling tension/pain between the shoulder blades and middle back area?? πŸ”₯

πŸ€” This can usually relate to a lack of thoracic mobility (reduced movement/imbalances at the shoulder/middle area of the spine)

πŸ‘Œ If this relates to you, feel's like something you suffer from, give this mobility exercise a try. It will help to improve movement around the shoulder complex and the thoracic spine reducing pain and muscular tension.

Help keep your body healthy by adding in different "movement patterns" to your training.
In the video you can see...

Push/ jump and throw/pull with torso rotation/lunge patterns

Repeating the same movements over and over leads to muscular imbalances, therefore increasing the chances of niggling/chronic injuries.

Benefits of adding in movement patterns include..
*Reducing risk of muscular imbalances
*Improving joint strength and mobility
*Improving physical fitness levels
*Improving overall calorie burn/output therefore improving body fat reduction
*Improves coordination and balance

As a sports therapist I also work with clients in the gym to help resolve muscular/joint pain, injuries from sport/physical activity, rehab after surgery, etc

If you feel there is something you need help with just drop me a message and let me help you get back to where you want to be πŸ™πŸ˜ŠπŸ‹οΈπŸƒπŸ§

⛑️ Suffering from shoulder aches & pains??⛑️

πŸ”— A lot of clients shoulder issues are commonly down to....
🚩 Weak, lengthened musculature/imbalances
🚩 Lack of mobility and stability at the joints

Here are 2 exercise examples I use with clients...
πŸ“½οΈ1. Helps stability & strength at the hip working across to the opposing muscles of the mid back.
πŸ“½οΈ2. Helps improve mobility & strength in the mid/upper back muscles while helping stabilise the shoulder girdle.

⛑️ If you need help with any issues regarding injury, rehab or improving sporting performance, get in touch and I can help you get back to pain free movement ⛑️
