The Good Life Fund by CPSL Mind offers grants of up to £1,500 to help bring community projects to life across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire – encouraging connection, wellbeing, and mental health support.

One of the brilliant groups we’ve recently supported is Alright Mate?, a men’s mental health support group based at Wisbech Rugby Club.

Alright Mate? provides a safe, welcoming space for local men to chat, connect, and support each other – whether they’re struggling with their mental health or just need someone to talk to.

Craig, one of the facilitators, shared:
“The CPSL Mind Good Life Fund has played a vital role in helping Alright Mate? Fenland get off the ground and reach out to local men to support their mental health and wellbeing. Without the support from CPSL Mind, we wouldn’t be where we are today. For me, it’s all about creating a safe space where men can feel comfortable opening up, talking about their problems, and finding understanding and support from like-minded people.”

The group is completely free to attend – just pop by whenever you like. To find out when their next meet-up is, head over to their page: Alright Mate? Fenland.

World Kindness Day 🌍💙

Today we’re celebrating World Kindness Day — a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Whether it’s checking in on a friend, offering a smile to a stranger, supporting family, or showing compassion to yourself, kindness builds the connections that help our communities thrive.

This beautiful illustration capturing the spirit of kindness in Ely is by Roxana de Rond. It captures the heart of one of the communities we’re proud to serve — a place where we’re helping to nurture a culture of care, understanding, and kindness. A huge thank you to Roxana for creating this exclusive piece for us.

Let’s keep spreading kindness — today and every day! ✨

As Cambridge United Football Club prepare for their next home game against Barnet on Saturday, we would like to take this opportunity to once again thank the legend who is Ian Darler.

Earlier this month, we announced that the 2025 'Big Fish Off' was a HUGE success, Stadium Manager Ian Darler B.E.M. undertook the fundraising challenge of catching 220lbs of fish in 12 hours and surpassed this mark by a whopping 154lb. In the process Ian raised over £12,000 for six local charities including £2,085.58 for CPSL Mind. This is an incredible achievement from Ian, and we can't thank him enough for his continued fundraising support. Fundraising helps us to support, develop, and grow our services.

We joined Ian and local charities Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, East Anglia's Children's Hospices - EACH, Woodgreen Pets Charity, Little Buds, and Cambridge United Foundation on the pitch at their last home game to celebrate Ian's fantastic achievements and really enjoyed watching the game under the floodlights. Cambridge United Football Club has a wonderful friendly community atmosphere and it's always lovely to catch up with stewards, volunteers and staff on match day.

The Cambridge United Foundation also received fundraising support from the challenge, and the charity closely aligns to CPSL Mind's own commitment to support the wellbeing of its local community. Next week, The Cambridge United Foundation will be hosting a Men's Health Event on Wednesday 19th November between 11-3pm at the Meadows Community Centre and CPSL Mind will be attending to raise awareness of our services and offer wellbeing advice to visitors.

We know that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health challenge in any given year, you aren't alone. Do join us next week at the event to find out more about our services and the Bright Horizons mental health cafe at Cambridge United. We are your local mental health charity, and we are here for you. 💙

Anti-Bullying Week 2025: 10–14 November

This year’s theme, Power for Good, reminds us all that small acts of kindness and support can make a big difference.

At CPSL Mind we want to raise awareness of the impact bullying can have on mental health, empower people to understand how to look out for potential signs of bullying, stand up against bullying, support those who may be experiencing bullying, and lead by example.

Meet Laura — our incredible Peer and Volunteer Manager 🌟

“Over five and a half years ago, I began my journey with CPSL Mind as Peer and Volunteer Manager—right at the start of a global pandemic. Connecting with people during such uncertain times was a challenge, but from day one, my colleagues made me feel truly welcomed and part of something special.

I genuinely believe I have the best job in the organisation. Every day, I get to meet incredible individuals whose personal journeys and transformations inspire them to give back—offering hope and light to others.”

Laura supports volunteers from their first contact right through their journey—helping them find the right opportunities, feel valued and supported, and continue to nurture their own wellbeing.

I get to witness the heart of what makes CPSL Mind so impactful: its people.” 💙

Thank you, Laura, for everything you do — and to all our amazing volunteers who bring hope, compassion and connection to our work every day.

Join on Sunday 8th March 2026 for the iconic TTP Cambridge Half Marathon and make every mile matter 💙

By running for CPSL Mind, you're not just challenging yourself, you’re helping provide vital mental health support across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire.

Last year, Lily ran for CPSL Mind and shared how much the experience meant to her:
“During training, there were days when it was dark, wet, and cold, and it was hard to find the motivation to get out the door. But I reminded myself why I was doing it – to give back to a charity that saved me, and to inspire others who might be struggling. That kept me going, even on the toughest days.”

Her story is a powerful reminder that every step you take helps bring hope and support to others.

⏰Over the weekend, the clocks went backwards. This means that the evenings are darker and mornings are lighter. For some of us, the darker days can feel more difficult. Your local mental health charity CPSL Mind is here to support you, do get in touch if you need support 💙

🌳🧣The colder weather and darker days don’t have to stop you from enjoying nature and finding ways to feel calm.

🌥️🌤️Look up at the sky and notice the different forms of light because there is light all around us.

🚶Increase walking, if you’re going to meet someone, try and meet them outside, so you can appreciate the light and get some natural light. It’s quite surprising how much light we can get, even on a dark day.

🔦For those people who really find it difficult to get outside because of mental or physical health, then there are ways we can try and reintroduce light in our interior space. That might be about decluttering our internal spaces, maximining the light from the window or putting together some electric lights or some fairy lights to make it nice and cosy.
