Research shows that specific acupuncture points have a powerful effect on reducing inflammation. Interestingly these are points that are traditionally used for this purpose, while points that are not traditionally associated with inflamation did not have the same effect on pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF alpha and IL-6.

Bear with me! What this demonstrates, is that point selection by a qualified acupuncturist will have a greater effect on your body than simply treating muscular trigger points alone.

Many times my clients ask me why I am putting needles in their leg or arm, when the pain or condition we a treating is located elsewhere, and the answer is that while treating the area of concern is important, we also need to treat you as a whole system of amazing and complex interactions to get the greatest over all improvement.
