is the inevitable agent in the process of Paka (digestion and transformation). Ingested food is to be digested, absorbed and assimilated, which is crucial for the maintenance of life, is performed by the Agni.

It is the discernment of Agni that determines which substances enter our cells and tissues, and which should be removed as waste. In this way, Agni is the gatekeeper of life.

Ayurveda identifies a vast range of functions for which Agni is directly responsible, but it also teaches us that impaired Agni is at the root of all imbalances and diseases. In fact, according to sage Charaka, when the Agni is extinguished, death soon follows.

Agni can be found in any of the following four states in our body;
1. Sama (Balanced)
2. Vishama (Erratic)
3. Tikshana (too hot and sharp)
4. Mandha (too slow and dull)

Most gastrointestinal diseases like IBS, Constipation, Indigestion, Hyperacidity, etc.. are caused due to the imbalanced state of your body Agni.

If you are suffering from any of the above and want to balance your Agni, book an Ayurvedic Consultation with Dr (Ayu) Karthik Manohar;

The literal translation of the sanskrit word "Srota" is the "channel for transportation."
The concept of Srota has been given a fundamental importance in both in and disease.
The Srota are innumerable and diverse, spreading throughout the body and nourish the different dhaatus. Any abnormalities result in the blockage of transport and result in disease.
Hence its important to clear the srotas from any toxins to lead a healthy life.

and are the tripods of life.
These are also known as Tridandas in Sanskrit.

Sage Charaka, in his book Charaka Samhita, says that the above three constitute the basis for everything.
Their combination sustains the universe.
Hence it is essential to keep them in equilibrium.
