John Stevens Award 2024
This Award is in memory of John Stevens, who was a GP in our Faculty. He is remembered by
Dr Ian Tait in the following words:

John Stevens had great gifts of leadership. To an awesome commitment to the cause he believed in he added a fine wit, great courage and a really original mind. He was passionate about the survival of the personal doctor and the nurturing of talent in doctors starting in general practice. These are issues that the new awards are intended to address. John’s untimely stroke in 1978 robbed us of an inspirational colleague and friend. But perhaps this is a moment to recall that despite that stroke he made a single-handed crossing of the Atlantic and half the Pacific hemiplegic and virtually speechless, before his disappearance forced us to accept his death. That feat was indeed an eloquent if tragic demonstration of the quality of the man in whose memory his faculty has created this award.
