When we slow down, the body shifts from the sympathetic “fight-or-flight” state into the parasympathetic “rest-and-digest” mode. This is the state where true healing, digestion, and cellular repair take place.

During stillness, heart rate and blood pressure decrease, stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline drop, which calms the mind and restores balance.

Research in neuroscience and psychophysiology shows that practices like deep breathing, massage therapy, meditation, and gentle movement stimulate the vagus nerve which is the main communicator between the brain and the body’s organs.

This activation supports emotional regulation, improves sleep, strengthens immunity, and even enhances creativity and problem-solving.
