Norovirus is a stomach bug that causes diarrhoea and vomiting.
The average number of patients in hospital with norovirus each day last week rose to over 1,000 for the first time this winter.
It can spread very easily, but washing your hands frequently with soap and water is the best way to stop it spreading.
If you catch it, stay at home until two days after the symptoms stop. Don’t visit hospitals or care homes during this time.

Today is the start of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
It’s important to know the signs and symptoms – especially as risk increases with age. Most cases develop in men aged 50 or older and prostate cancer is more common in Black men.
Prostate cancer often develops slowly, so there may be no symptoms for many years.
Early diagnosis and treatment can save lives. Contact your GP if you notice any changes in your body or something doesn’t feel right.
