🩺 Bowel Cancer Screening Saves Lives 🩺

Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK — but when found early, it is highly treatable.

That’s why screening is so important.

✔️ The NHS bowel screening programme is offered to people aged 50–74
✔️ It can detect cancer before symptoms appear
✔️ It can also find pre-cancerous changes, helping prevent cancer altogether

The test is simple and done at home. If you receive a screening kit in the post, please don’t ignore it — completing it could save your life.

⚠️ Don’t wait for symptoms. Take part in screening when invited.

If you have symptoms such as:
• Persistent changes in bowel habits
• Blood in your stool
• Unexplained weight loss
• Ongoing abdominal pain

Su***de Bereavement Support Service - Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent

Losing someone to su***de is an incredibly difficult and painful experience, and the impact can be felt long after the loss. Seeking support during this time can make a real difference, helping individuals and families to navigate grief, reduce isolation, and access practical and emotional help when it is most needed.
Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB commissions a dedicated postvention service to ensure that anyone bereaved or affected by su***de can access timely, compassionate support.

Support is available, and no one has to cope alone.

Amparo
Amparo provides free, confidential su***de bereavement support to anyone affected by a su***de across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
The service is available for families, friends, colleagues, and wider communities, offering:
• One-to-one support from a dedicated Su***de Bereavement Liaison Worker
• Practical advice and guidance following a death
• Help accessing local services and ongoing emotional support
Referrals can be made by professionals or via self-referral.

From 24th March, your cervical screening (smear test) results will be sent directly to your NHS App.

This means:
✔️ Faster access to your results
✔️ Secure and confidential viewing
✔️ Less waiting for letters in the post

If you don’t already have the NHS App, we encourage you to download and set it up so you can easily view your results and manage your health information.

🧬 DNA GP Appointments = Lost Time for Patients Who Need Care

Every week, GP surgeries lose valuable appointment slots because of DNAs (Did Not Attends). When appointments are missed without cancelling, that time can be used to help someone else who may urgently need to see a doctor.

📊 Thousands of GP appointments are wasted each week across the UK due to DNAs.

If you can’t attend your appointment:
✅ Cancel as early as possible
✅ Use the NHS App or contact your GP surgery
✅ Let someone else take that slot

A quick cancellation can make a big difference to another patient waiting for care.
