At Clayton Clinic, You’re in Safe Hands
Recent media reports have highlighted concerns around the lack of regulation in some private pregnancy ultrasound clinics. We understand how important it is for expectant parents to feel confident in the care they choose, so we want to explain what sets Clayton Clinic apart.
Founded by Midwives
Clayton Clinic was founded by experienced midwives who understand pregnancy, birth, and antenatal care inside and out. Our approach is rooted in clinical knowledge, compassionate care, and putting your safety first.
Proudly CQC Registered
We are a Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered clinic, which means we are held to nationally recognised healthcare standards. Sadly, many private ultrasound clinics are not CQC registered and therefore operate without this level of oversight.
Who performs your scan really matters
The title sonographer is not legally protected, meaning anyone can use it regardless of training or experience.
At Clayton Clinic, scans are carried out by appropriately qualified professionals, working within clear clinical guidelines and governance frameworks.
Why regulation matters
Being a regulated clinic means we must meet strict standards designed to protect you and your baby, including:
• Robust clinical governance
• Regular quality assurance and audit processes
• Equipment safety checks and maintenance
• Strong infection prevention and control
• Ongoing staff training and competency reviews
These safeguards are not optional they are essential and a legal requirement in the UK.
Our approach to care
Whilst we don’t claim to know everything, we trust our professional judgement, work within evidence-based practice, and do what is right: always in the best interests of you and your baby. When something is outside our scope, we are open, honest, and ensure appropriate onward care.
Care you can trust
Pregnancy ultrasound is a medical procedure and should be delivered in a safe, regulated clinical environment.
At Clayton Clinic, our midwife-led, CQC registered service means you can feel reassured that you and your baby are always in safe hands.
