It's been a wonderful way to empower women as 2025 was drawing to a close, thanks to our collaboration with Mayah's Legacy 😍😍 and their vision and funding for the first SisterZ Advocates community!
I can't wait for the next SisterZ Advocates course which starts in Thanet in February 2026😍
End of Year Review – 2025 | Mayah’s Legacy
As 2025 comes to an end, Mayah’s Legacy reflects with pride on a year rooted in care, collaboration, and empowering women to own their voice.
Throughout the year, we supported parents and mothers with their wellbeing by delivering a four-week wellbeing programme in partnership with Canterbury & District Early Years Project. These sessions created a safe, supportive space for women to pause, reflect, and reconnect with themselves during a period of life that can often feel overwhelming and isolating.
Alongside this, we successfully piloted the SisterZ Advocate Training Curriculum, delivered in collaboration with Aileen White from My Birth Support. This pilot marked an important milestone in our commitment to strengthening women’s confidence, knowledge, and capacity to advocate for themselves and for others.
The four-week programme was well attended, with sessions exploring:
Self-advocacy and what it truly means
How self-advocacy supports women in healthcare settings
The wider impact of self-advocacy on everyday life, relationships, and wellbeing
Feedback and evaluation clearly demonstrated the programme’s effectiveness. Participants were asked to rate their understanding of self-advocacy and their confidence in advocating for themselves and others on a scale of 1–10 (with 10 being high/excellent).
At the start of the course: most participants rated themselves around 6
By the end of the four weeks: the majority reported scores between 8–10
This shift reflects a meaningful increase in confidence, understanding, and self-belief.
Participant Reflections
When asked what they discovered during the course that they didn’t know before, participants shared powerful insights, including:
“I have learnt to look after my physical and mental health better by writing and talking and doing less.”
“Learning to be my own person again after having a child.”
“I am stronger than I believe I am.”
“I have to admit I wasn’t quite sure what self-advocacy actually meant, but it did become clearer.”
These reflections speak to the heart of Mayah’s Legacy’s mission: supporting women to reconnect with themselves, recognise their strength, and feel empowered to speak up with confidence and clarity.
As we close 2025, we are deeply grateful to our partners, facilitators, and every woman who trusted us with their journey. We move into the next year committed to expanding this work, deepening our impact, and continuing to champion compassionate, person-centred support for women and families.
