Heading into my 29th year of working in predominately musculoskeletal therapy and enjoying it as much as I did from the first day of starting training.
I have been very fortunate to work and continue to work in a wide variety of clinical settings and although the glamour of working in professional sports is always a highlight it is not until you are in the NHS or private practice settings where your day-to-day work is not usually with the fittest healthiest people in the prime of their careers but with those who are severely limited day to day often with health concerns coexisting and complicating any quick progression.
You get truly humbled when one minute you are dealing with someone who is at their highest level of fitness with some back discomfort and then the next patient comes through the door in there late 80s with an osteoporosis spine and various medical conditions (with often the same expectations and hopes of what you can achieve for them) which require you to adapt your techniques regularly and be prepared to change the direction of medical care quickley. This is my day to day.
Being a slightly “older” and experienced therapist I have a learnt a lot and still have the thirst for further learning. It is always a passion and pleasure to teach and pass on my stories/experience to fellow team member and students that I teach.
