Dear friends
I am not very active on Facebook — or on digital channels generally — and I would like to explain why.
As a naturopathic nutrition practitioner, it’s important to me to practise what I teach. I follow a digital detox routine myself and aim to maintain a balanced relationship with technology. Much of my time is intentionally focused on my clients, my family, my friends, my book, and the work that truly matters offline.
This approach is intentional and grounded in growing scientific evidence. Excessive screen exposure can disrupt sleep patterns, place stress on the nervous system, increase perceived stress levels, and indirectly affect digestion and gut health through its impact on circadian rhythms and the gut–brain connection. Protecting time away from devices helps support balance within the body.
Not to sound preachy — but my work is very much evidence-based, and I strongly believe it’s important to live in alignment with the science I share with others.
This is one of the reasons I am rearing my head and supporting the World Digital Detox Day Initiative and their 1111 Digital Fasting Formula, which encourages simple habits to help restore a healthier relationship with technology.
