Lot's of useful resources/visuals to support understanding the 'new normal'

Some children and young people with autism may initially struggle to understand the concept of social distancing rules and this may have an impact on the way they are able to relate and interact with others.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face masks will be another novel factor, especially if your child has not come into contact with them yet.

Our what is PPE visual story explains the purpose and need for facemasks, gloves and other protective equipment: https://bit.ly/2LLszjc

Private Children’s Speech and Language Therapy in Kent

I have over 14 years’ experience working within the NHS as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), with pre-school and primary aged children and their families with a wide range of needs. In the last 9 years, I have been a Clinical Lead (Highly Specialist SLT) in early years language difficulties.

I am passionate about working with parents, families and education staff to highlight and enhance their skills in supporting their child whilst having fun. By:

  • firstly supporting their child to have positive success as a communicator in everyday situations and facilitate the key foundations required for speech, language and communication through play and having fun;

  • and secondly build on these foundations, in supporting their child to further develop their speech, language and communication skills and broader learning through enabling access to the early years or school curriculum.
