👀Check this out...Pivot transfers using a spinning plate! I'm always thinking of new ways to integrate independent movement and thought I'd share this one as it is such a simple but effective activity. It works on the movement pattern of pivoting in sitting, activating leg muscles whilst maintaining trunk control and using arms out of base of support to assist.

This little girl works so hard every single day and shows everyone what determination and inner strength really look like. ✨💪

Always excited to come to work when this is what I get to do all day 🥺🥰 Movement may look different for everyone- and it all matters!

I absolutely love using the Firefly by in my therapy sessions to allow freedom of movement, gait training, head control and assisted weightbearing. This gorgeous boy loves being able to walk around the room and do his "shopping" 🤣❤️

If I could give a gift of knowledge to any new paediatric physiotherapist starting their journey or any parent working on therapy at home, it would be this 👇
And honestly… it’s not as easy as it looks.

It’s taken me years of hands-on experience (and a LOT of learning about the brain🧠) to truly understand when to facilitate, when to support, and when to step back.

Neuroplasticity doesn’t “just happen”. It needs:
🧠 New & meaningful movement experiences
🔁 Repetition (with variation!)
⏳ Time, patience & consistency
🎯 The right challenge at the right time
🤲 Support without over-supporting
💛 Safety, trust & connection
🌱 Space for children to try, fail, adapt & succeed

Sometimes the biggest growth happens when we resist the urge to just "do it for them". Trust me- they will surprise you by just how strong they are. ❤️
