Right now, kidney disease causes more deaths every year than breast cancer or prostate cancer, yet there is often a lack of awareness of a condition that affects 10% of the UK population.

In support of Kidney Care UK's campaign, our colleagues will be in the concourse at University Hospital Wales on 12 March - World Kidney Day - to help people assess their risk of kidney disease.

Colleagues from the Renal Network and the Wales Kidney Research Unit will be around to answer your questions and will have leaflets on how to keep kidneys healthy and what to do if you are identified as having a higher risk of kidney disease. We’ll also be joined by representatives from Kidney Care UK and Kidney Wales charities.

We hope to see you there!

Fasting for Ramadan? These tips can help you look after your health while observing your fast. 🌙✨

🥗 Eat a balanced diet and stay hydrated between sunset and dawn.
💤 Prioritise rest where you can, and save more intense exercise for after breaking the fast.
💊 If you take regular medication or live with a long-term health condition, speak to a pharmacist or GP about the best way to manage your health during the fast.

Ramadan Mubarak 💙

Spiritual care is that care which recognises and responds to the needs of the human spirit when faced with trauma, ill health or sadness and can include the need for meaning, for self worth, to express oneself, for faith support, perhaps for rites or prayer or sacrament, or simply for a sensitive listener.

Hospital Chaplains provide spiritual care to the hospital community. They take their place alongside the multi-disciplinary team which seeks to provide holistic care for patients and those close to them. The service we offer is confidential and non-judgemental and is available to everyone.
