Twelve weeks ago today my son had left for his first lads' holiday abroad. I remember the day so well.

I remember posting about watching 'Now Voyager', the Bette Davis movie where the main character undergoes an amazing physical transformation which ultimately changes her life.

Well, it's 12 weeks today until we'll be counting down to 2023. Yes, it's 12 weeks until New Year's Eve. Yikes!!!

Check your calendar. What were you were doing 12 weeks ago today? How fast has that time gone? The next 12 weeks is going to go just as fast.

So, who would like to get a jump start on any new year's resolutions to lose weight in 2023? How would it feel to already be 25+lbs down and well into the groove so you knew, come spring, you'd be at your goal weight, or well on the way, and able to wear whatever you wanted!!

I can tell you; it feels great!!

So look back over the last three months; the last six months; the last year. Have you made any progress towards achieving your goal weight or are you still in roughly the same place? Are you ready to get unstuck, make a commitment to yourself and take action?

Who are your saboteurs?

Look, it's hard enough to lose weight without people in your circle trying to derail you, however unconsciously (sometimes) or (apparently) well meaning they appear to be.

So if someone has something to say about your weight loss efforts that leaves you feeling unsure about what you're doing, or that it's not worth it, then ask yourself: 'What's in it for them if I stay the same?'

Never take any comment that has you questioning yourself at face value, especially if what you're doing is making you feel better about yourself and more positive about life. Always check for an ulterior motive.

You don't need to confront anyone; just smile and carry on regardless. Or a comment such as, 'It appears that the way I'm changing is unsettling for you, and I'm not sure why that is, but you're going to have to find a way to deal with it because I'm not stopping', will probably shut them up for good.

It's their problem, not yours, and now you've just politely shown them that you know it's their problem.

HOW MANY MORE YEARS ARE YOU GOING TO KEEP SWAPPING OVER CLOTHES THAT DON'T FIT YOU AS THE SEASONS CHANGE?

So the big summer/winter wardrobe swap happened at the weekend. What's different now to just two years ago is the fact that, back then, every year I'd be swapping out clothes, 60% of which didn't fit me and many items still with labels on.

They'd be religiously hung up in my wardrobe at the start of the summer and then packed away at the end of the summer, unworn. I did this with some items for 10+ years!

Two years ago things were changing. I was about 7 weeks into this new way of eating and already blown away by the progress I was seeing. I was down around 24lbs.

I remember packing away my summer wardrobe thinking how amazing it was going to be to unpack them all the following summer knowing that lots of things were going to be way too big and the too small items I'd been religiously unpacking and then packing away again every year would finally fit me.

For the first time I had so much confidence that I was on a sure fire path to success. It was amazing, after struggling for so long, to have finally discovered an eating framework that enabled me to achieve my weight loss goals in such a predictable, fast and sustainable way.

My confidence was justified. By the new year I was down another 30lbs and then by Easter (beginning of April) another 20lbs.

There's always going to be an excuse not to do something. Always. Especially if you're uncomfortable; especially if you're nervous; especially if it's something new.
Courage is what it's going to take to be happier. Courage is what it's going to take for you to reach your possibility.
Courage is what it's going to take for you to have a better mindset.
What's possible for you if you can find the courage to start to walk toward what you want, you can't even imagine how incredible it's going to be.
