Proud Parent Moment - Proud Clinic Moment
We’re bursting with pride to share some amazing news about our daughter, Ariana Howells - a bright, passionate, and driven young woman who's making waves in both academia and medical research.
This summer Ari turned 18, at 17 years old she earned three A*s and an A in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and English Lit - plus an incredible 97% on her Extended Project Qualification, where she researched the effects of THC on sleep architecture. Her interest in plant medication has highlighted the drug's promise, as well as gaps in existing research. "There were only seven studies worth citing," Ariana said.
Her deep dive into medical plants isn't just academic, it's personal.
Inspired by mum / Sam's experience with Crohn’s and the transformative role plant medicine has played, Ariana’s work is part of our bigger family mission to improve lives through education and access to medical plants!
"Seeing my mum's condition and the way this medication has helped her and our clinic’s patients really opened my eyes to its medical potential," she's said.
"My dad is also a senior psychiatrist, so I've grown up in a household where science and care come together."
We're especially thrilled to announce that Ariana will be heading to Oxford University this autumn to study Biochemistry at St Hilda’s College!
Her goal? To help shape the future of drug development and mental health care, with plant medication research close to her heart.
Ariana said "science is about asking difficult questions and being open to where the evidence leads.”
As if that wasn’t enough, she’s also a gold medalist in the Biology Olympiad, a semi-finalist in the International Biology Bowl, and a dedicated competitive ice skater.
We couldn’t be more proud of the young woman she’s becoming, blending science, compassion, and determination every step of the way.
Well Done Ari!
