Welcome to the PSM team!! Louise 🙌🏻

Louise joins the PSM team with a wealth of experience, having obtained a diploma in massage therapy in Australia where she has spent the last decade living and working.

Also, since graduating in 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Health Science she has worked exclusively in the field of health and wellness.

In her clinical practice Louise has worked with recreational athletes, competitive powerlifters and professional athletes. She also had the opportunity to work with professional sports teams in Australia which include many NRL teams in QLD and NSW, the Wallabies RU team, Brisbane Bullets basketball team and the women’s Newcastle Knights and Jillaroo’s.

During COVID Louise was also involved with the NRL “bubble” that allowed the teams to continue playing through lockdown.

Originally from Cardiff, she has now relocated permanently back to Wales at the end of 2025 to be closer to family again.

The experiences she has had during the start of her career in Australia has helped her to develop valuable skills which she can utilise to treat a multitude of musculoskeletal issues.

Her personalised holistic approach can be beneficial to athletes of all levels, those managing chronic musculoskeletal conditions and to generally assist in the maintenance of a healthy body to balance work, play and life.

Concussion is a red hot topic at present, with a very high profile case in rugby league highlighting the importance of recognising a concussion and taking action early…

Not every hit causes a concussion, and It’s not always obvious immediately 🤕

Whether you’re a competitor, a team mate, teacher, coach, parent or pitch side practitioner…The key is knowing what to look for and when to seek help.

🚨Physical signs

- Headache or feeling of pressure in the head
- Nausea or vomiting
- Balance problems or dizziness
- Blurred or double vision, or “seeing stars”
- Sensitivity to light or noise
- Fatigue, feeling sluggish or drowsy

🚨Cognitive and emotional signs

- Feeling stunned, dazed, or confused
- Difficulty concentrating or remembering
- Answering questions more slowly than usual
- Irritability, being moody, or having trouble with self-control
- Changes in personality or behavior

If you notice any of these signs don’t shrug it off - take action ASAP, as early medical assessment makes a huge difference in recovery.

Do omega-3s help concussion recovery? 🤔

Animal data is encouraging, early human work is emerging, and a pilot study suggests DHA might shorten symptoms—BUT omega-3s aren’t a cure.

They work best **with** vestibular/visual rehab, sub-symptom exercise, and good clinical guidance.

Thinking about trying them? Aim for higher-DHA, third-party tested products and talk to your provider first.

💥 Creatine & Concussion Recovery 🤕

Most athletes take creatine for strength and performance… but new research suggests it may also support the brain after concussion.

Benefits may include:

⚡ Faster recovery of brain energy
🧠 Reduced symptoms like brain fog & headaches
⏱️ Quicker return to normal function

⚠️ Not a replacement for medical care… think of it as an adjunct to a proper concussion recovery plan.

Creatine isn’t just for athletes…

Your brain relies on it for energy, and after a concussion, that energy system is under stress.

Some early research shows creatine could:

- Support cellular energy production
- Reduce oxidative stress
- Improve symptoms like fatigue and cognitive difficulty

It’s not a magic cure and the research is still developing. But under the guidance of a concussion-trained professional, it may have a role in recovery.
