Proud to be the chosen charity for the South Wales Gay Men's Chorus 💙
This is more than a choir — it’s community, belonging, and real connection.
And we know: connection is protection.

These guys don’t just sing — they show up for people. Proper mental health champions.

Massive thanks for backing HELPU and for everything you stand for 👏

You are likely hearing the phrase “toxic masculinity” a lot.
We’re not here to debate the phrase.
The issues behind it matter — they’re real.
But what we see, time and time again, is that labels don’t always help men open up.
And that’s where change starts.
We’re more interested in the world men are actually living in:
Pressure
Expectations
Keeping things together
Not always having a place to put it
That’s what shows up in men’s mental health.
Not labels.
Not debates.
Real life.
Sometimes it’s a lot to carry.

Tonight at 7!

TONIGHT at 7pm - Free to attend!
🧡 We’re a regular meetup for gay, bi and q***r men — to chat, connect and get things off your chest.
A relaxed, no-judgement space where you can turn up as you are. Somewhere to breathe out, have a conversation, meet new people and feel part of a community.
It’s not therapy and it’s not all heavy — sometimes it’s just a good chat, a laugh, and a chance to connect with others who get it.
📍 Fortnightly at the Peilot community space, Chapter Arts Centre

What’s Really Happening in Men’s Mental Health in Wales?
📅 21 April | 12–3pm
📍 SPARK, Cardiff University
Something’s been building across Wales…
Men showing up for each other. No referrals. No waiting lists.
Just groups. Community. Real conversations (or no pressure to talk at all).
Helpu Cymru have been part of new research from CARE at Cardiff University — alongside Men’s Sheds Cymru and others — looking at these self-organised groups across the country.
And the findings matter 👇
👉 17 out of 22 local areas represented
👉 Groups growing, not shrinking
👉 Average of 13 men turning up each time
👉 79% actively encouraging openness
👉 40% using practical activities (woodwork, gardening, etc.)
👉 Most run by volunteers, no funding, no professionals
This isn’t theory. This is what’s already happening on the ground.
At a time when:
Men are still 3x more likely to die by su***de
And services are stretched to their limits
These groups are stepping in early — offering connection, support, and somewhere to go.
But here’s the thing…
We still don’t fully understand how they work, or how to support them properly.
That’s what this event is about.
Sharing what we’ve learned.
Hearing from people involved.
And figuring out what comes next — without losing what makes these spaces work.
If you’re part of a group, working in this space, or just interested in a different way forward register here for the event!

It’s a relaxed space for men to talk, listen, or just sit and be around others — no pressure to share + no judgement.

Or you might just fancy getting out of the house and having a chat. It all good!
If you’re feeling a bit isolated, stressed, or just want a change of scene, come along for a free cuppa ☕
No cost. Open to men of all ages. No booking needed. Just turn up and come as you are!
