Last year, in Wales, nearly 200,000 people with conditions like diabetes, asthma, COPD and heart disease protected themselves by getting a flu vaccine. Flu vaccination is a normal part of managing long-term conditions.

Nearly a million people in Wales get vaccinated every year. The flu vaccine has been tested and used safely for decades.

Y llynedd, yng Nghymru, amddiffynnodd bron i 200,000 o bobl â chyflyrau fel diabetes, asthma, COPD a chlefyd y galon eu hunain trwy gael brechlyn ffliw. Mae brechu rhag y ffliw yn rhan arferol o reoli cyflyrau hirdymor.

Mae bron i filiwn o bobl yng Nghymru yn cael eu brechu bob blwyddyn. Mae'r brechlyn ffliw wedi cael ei brofi a'i ddefnyddio'n ddiogel ers degawdau.

Gall y ffliw fod yn ddifrifol iawn i blant ifanc, ond mae'r brechlyn chwistrell trwyn yn lleihau'r risg o salwch difrifol.

Mae'r brechlyn rhag y ffliw wedi cael ei ddefnyddio'n ddiogel ers degawdau, gyda thros 25,000 o blant 2-3 oed yng Nghymru yn cael eu brechu trwy chwistrell trwyn rhag y ffliw y llynedd.

Dydy’r brechlyn chwistrell trwyn rhag y ffliw ddim yn gallu rhoi ffliw i'ch plentyn - mae'n hyfforddi ei system imiwnedd i ymladd y feirws.

Flu can be very serious for young children, but the nasal spray vaccine reduces the risk of serious illness.

The flu vaccine has been used safely for decades, with over 25,000 children aged 2-3 in Wales getting vaccinated through a flu nasal spray last year.

The flu nasal spray vaccine can’t give your child flu — it trains their immune system to fight the virus.

‼️PLEASE SHARE ‼️

We are experiencing significant pressure across our hospital sites today which is having an impact on the Emergency Departments within Princess of Wales, Prince Charles and Royal Glamorgan Hospitals.
We are urging the public to please only attend the Emergency Department in an emergency and to consider other healthcare options available to you.

What is a medical emergency? Some examples include:
• Unconsciousness
• Difficulty in breathing
• Suspected heart attack
• Serious injury or heavy blood loss
• Sudden weakness or speech problems

If your condition is urgent, but not life-threatening, you can:
• Visit the NHS 111 Wales website for advice on your condition and the next steps to take
• Contact a member of the Primary Care team in the community
• Visit a Minor Injuries Unit if you have a new injury
• Call 111 to access urgent advice and guidance and the Out of Hours service

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

‼️RHANNWCH OS GWELWCH YN DDA‼️

Rydym yn profi pwysau sylweddol ar draws ein safleoedd ysbyty heddiw, sy’n effeithio ar yr Adrannau Achosion Brys yn Ysbyty Tywysoges Cymru, Ysbyty’r Tywysog Siarl ac Ysbyty Brenhinol Morgannwg.

Rydym yn annog y cyhoedd i fynychu’r Adran Achosion Brys mewn argyfwng yn unig ac ystyried yr opsiynau gofal iechyd eraill sydd ar gael i chi.

Beth yw argyfwng meddygol? Enghreifftiau yw:

• Anymwybodolrwydd
• Anhawster anadlu
• Amau trawiad ar y galon
• Anafiad difrifol neu waedu trwm
• Gwendid sydyn neu broblemau lleferydd

Os yw’ch cyflwr yn frys ond heb fygwth bywyd, gallwch:

• Ymweld â gwefan 111 Cymru am gyngor ar eich cyflwr a’r camau nesaf
• Cysylltu ag aelod o’r Tîm Gofal Sylfaenol yn y gymuned
• Ymweld ag Uned Mân Anafiadau os oes gennych anaf newydd
• Ffonio 111 i gael cyngor brys a mynediad at y gwasanaeth y Tu Allan i Oriau

A special thank you for our Resus Team and Cardiac Monitoring Unit at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital and the University of Hospital Wales Cardiology teams. 🌈

“A huge thank you to all the consultants and nursing staff following my heart issues. The care provided was excellent, swift and professional. Their kindness, care and compassion was beyond words, this is what the NHS provides.

My aftercare in CMU again excellent, couldn’t ask for better. Medically I’m on the mend but without their skills and knowledge I would be in a difficult situation.

Thank you not only helping me, but this includes my family. Priceless.”

Have your say: https://ctmuhb.nhs.wales/patient-advice/patient-feedback-civica/

Diolch enfawr i'n Tîm Adfywio, yr Uned Monitro Cardiaidd yn Ysbyty Brenhinol Morgannwg a thimau Cardioleg Ysbyty Prifysgol Cymru. 🌈

“Diolch yn fawr iawn i’r holl ymgynghorwyr a staff nyrsio yn dilyn fy mhroblemau calon. Roedd y gofal a ddarparwyd yn rhagorol, yn gyflym ac yn broffesiynol. Roedd eu caredigrwydd, eu gofal a'u tosturi y tu hwnt i eiriau, dyma beth mae'r GIG yn ei ddarparu.

Roedd fy ôl-ofal yn CMU eto'n rhagorol, allwn i ddim gofyn am well. Yn feddygol, rydw i ar iacháu ond heb eu sgiliau a'u gwybodaeth byddwn i mewn sefyllfa anodd.

Diolch nid yn unig am fy helpu i, ond mae hyn yn cynnwys fy nheulu. Amhrisiadwy.”

An early flu season has started in Wales and the rest of the UK.

Getting the flu vaccination helps to protect yourself and others ahead of winter, when viruses tend to circulate and the NHS faces increased pressure on its services.

The flu vaccine has been used safely for decades, with nearly a million people in Wales getting vaccinated every year. The vaccine can’t give you flu and side effects are usually mild and short-lived.

You should have the flu vaccine if you are:

• Pregnant
• Aged 65 or over (or turn 65 before the end of the flu vaccination programme – usually march each year), or
• Aged six months to 64 years with a long-term health condition (view the list on our website - via the hyperlink below)

Even if you feel well, you are at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu if any of the above apply to you.

The following people should also have the flu vaccine to help protect themselves and those around them.

• Children aged two and three years (age on 31 August 2025)
• School-age children and young people from reception to year 11
• Unpaid and paid carers
• First responders and members of voluntary organisations providing planned emergency first aid
• Those who live with someone who has a weak immune system

Mae tymor ffliw cynnar wedi dechrau yng Nghymru a gweddill y DU.

Mae cael y brechiad ffliw yn helpu i amddiffyn eich hun ac eraill cyn y gaeaf, pan fydd feirysau’n tueddu i ledaenu ac mae’r GIG yn wynebu mwy o bwysau ar ei wasanaethau.

Mae'r brechlyn ffliw wedi cael ei ddefnyddio'n ddiogel ers degawdau, gyda bron i filiwn o bobl yng Nghymru yn cael eu brechu bob blwyddyn. Ni all y brechlyn roi'r ffliw i chi ac mae sgil effeithiau fel arfer yn ysgafn ac yn fyrhoedlog.

Dylech chi gael y brechlyn ffliw os ydych chi:

• Yn feichiog
• 65 oed neu hŷn (neu'n troi'n 65 cyn diwedd y rhaglen frechu ffliw – fel arfer ym mis Mawrth bob blwyddyn), neu
• Rhwng chwe mis a 64 oed gyda chyflwr iechyd hirdymor (gweler y rhestr ar ein gwefan - drwy'r hypergyswllt isod)

Hyd yn oed os ydych chi'n teimlo'n dda, rydych chi mewn mwy o berygl o fynd yn sâl iawn o'r ffliw os yw unrhyw un o'r uchod yn berthnasol i chi.

Dylai'r bobl ganlynol hefyd gael y brechlyn ffliw i helpu i amddiffyn eu hunain a'r rhai o'u cwmpas.

• Plant dwy a thair oed (oedran ar 31 Awst 2025)
• Plant oedran ysgol a phobl ifanc o'r dosbarth derbyn i flwyddyn 11
• Gofalwyr di-dâl a gofalwyr â thâl
• Ymatebwyr cyntaf ac aelodau o sefydliadau gwirfoddol sy'n darparu cymorth cyntaf brys wedi'i gynllunio
• Y rhai sy'n byw gyda rhywun sydd â system imiwnedd wan

A double welcome to the world this week, to Jude and Rowan. 💙🩷 Mam, Rachel, has a special thank you for staff at the Princess of Wales Hospital and Tirion Birth Centre for their support.

"Thank you so much to those at POW Ward 12 and Labour Ward who helped bring our twinnies into the world, especially Bec Clarke who was the biggest support through the induction, epidurals and caesarean section.

A further thank you goes out to those in Tirion Birth Centre who helped us with feeding support when we were discharged from POW.

Whilst we won’t be rushing back, the experience couldn’t have been made any more dreamy for us all."

Croeso dwbl i'r byd yr wythnos hon, i Jude a Rowan. 💙🩷 Mae gan Mam, Rachel, ddiolch arbennig i staff Ysbyty Tywysoges Cymru a Chanolfan Genedigaeth Tirion am eu cefnogaeth.

"Diolch o galon i bawb ar Ward 12 a’r Ward Llafur yn Ysbyty Tywysoges Cymru a helpodd i ddod â’n efeilliaid i’r byd, yn enwedig Bec Clarke, a fu’n gefn anhygoel drwy’r broses ymsefydlu, yr epidwralau a’r toriad Cesaraidd.

Mae diolch pellach yn mynd allan i'r rhai yng Nghanolfan Genedigaeth Tirion a wnaeth ein helpu gyda chymorth bwydo pan gawsom ein rhyddhau o Ysbyty Tywysoges Cymru.

Er na fyddwn ni’n brysio’n ôl, doedd dim modd i’r profiad fod yn fwy breuddwydiol i ni i gyd.”
