VISIT A PODIATRIST
Podiatrists don’t just treat diabetic feet…they regularly monitor them through a series of painless assessments that benchmarks any progression of the disease; identify any risk to your feet and general health; treat where appropriate; advise patients on home care and communicated with other healthcare providers, such as your GP to maintain your foot health. You can book a ‘Diabetic Feet Assessment’ with our podiatrist here: https://icareclinics.co.uk/managing-diabetic-feet/

DON’T TREAT YOUR OWN FEET
People often try to manage common conditions such as ingrown toenails, corns and calluses at home using DIY kits from the chemist or supermarket! Unfortunately many make a poor job of treating these conditions and in doing so cause more harm that good. See professional care from a registered podiatrist who will treat your feet and advise you on how to safely manage your feet at home. DON’T WALK BAREFOOT
Diabetes can cause neuropathy which is a loss of sensation in the feet. Some diabetic patients may not know that they have neuropathy, and in turn, may not know that they have stood on something that has injured their foot. MOISTURISE YOUR FEET
Keeping your feet soft will make them feel great and also help to prevent common foot conditions such as corns and calluses (hard skin). Corns and calluses can be painful and lead to high pressure points that can further breakdown and lead to ulceration in patients who suffer with diabetes. Download our free guide to ‘Managing Diabetic Feet.’ Or book a Diabetic Feet Assessment with our podiatrist here: https://icareclinics.co.uk/managing-diabetic-feet/

WASH YOUR FEET DAILY
Of course you wash your feet daily…but do you dry between your toes? Failing to wash and dry your feet thoroughly can lead to the skin (especially between the toes) becoming soggy and split. This can be painful and can lead to infection particularly with patients who suffer from diabetes.
