Samain, the Night of October 31st
Tonight, the veil between worlds grows thin. A sacred pause between light and shadow. Where endings soften into beginnings.
Ancient fires once burned on distant hills, guiding spirits home and hearts toward the light.
Families gathered in silence,
leaving a place at the table for those who came before.
The Earth receives her final offerings of apples, grains, a whisper of milk, and a prayer of gratitude before the long rest of winter.
We cleanse, we release, we let go.
The old year falls away like autumn leaves, making space for what wants to be born anew.
In the stillness, listen.
Darkness is not to be feared,
It is the cradle of your becoming.
We honour the past, we welcome renewal and we trust the unseen path that unfolds before us.
Origins - Celtic tradition, celebrated in Ireland, Scotland, and other parts of northern Europe. It marks the end of the harvest year and the beginning of the dark season.
