Residents at Tŷ Penrhos have been taking part in a heart‑warming project called Sending Hearts Across the UK and the World. With the help of the Wellbeing team, they created beautiful handmade Valentine’s cards and posted them to care homes across the country and beyond.

Over the past couple of weeks, cards have been arriving back from Essex, Cambridgeshire, Northumberland - and even Illinois in the USA! Each message has brought huge smiles and plenty of joy to everyone.

All the cards received are now proudly displayed on a special Valentine’s “hearts trolley” for residents and visitors to enjoy as they pass by.

It’s a lovely reminder of how far kindness can travel, and how a simple message can brighten someone’s day. 💜

We'll be launching the first opportunities in our new apprenticeship scheme this summer, when you’ll be able to apply for the available roles.

The recruitment process will take place during the autumn and successful applicants will start in January 2027.

Between now and then, you can start researching different areas of work you're interested in.

Then when you're ready to apply, we’ll give you guidance and practical tips, so you feel supported throughout the recruitment process and can prepare at each stage.

We’re interested in your potential and how your behaviours align with Hafod’s. Our interviews are a chance to get to know you and for you to get to know us.

To help you prepare, try using examples from your work, school, volunteering or everyday life. A simple structure like CARL can help you organise your answers clearly:

Context – What was happening? Briefly explain the challenge
Action – What did you do?
Result – What happened because of your actions? What changed or improved?
Learning – What did you learn or take away from the experience?

Do you have any family members leaving school, college or education this year and looking for their next step?

Our apprenticeships, launching in January 2027, will offer a genuine alternative to traditional pathways, with real jobs, recognised qualifications and clear career pathways.

Our apprenticeships will provide:
⭐ A competitive salary from day one, combining hands on experience alongside structured learning
⭐ Recognised qualifications, from entry level through to professional roles
⭐ Opportunities for long term career progression, not just short-term placements

Apprenticeships are regulated programmes, meaning learning is planned, supported and quality assured. Apprentices earn while they learn to build practical skills employers value.

Our apprenticeships are more than a job; they come hand in hand with a personal development programme focusing on helping people to grow both personally and professionally. Apprentices will:

💜 Learn about their strengths, how they work best and how to build positive working relationships
💜 Take part in development sessions that support confidence, communication and leadership skills
💜 Build resilience to help them adapt to new situations and challenges at work
💜 Learn about belonging, inclusion and wellbeing, and how these are embedded across Hafod

We want all colleagues to feel supported, valued and able to thrive at work, especially those starting out in their careers.

If you're supporting someone to think about their next step, apprenticeships at Hafod will offer a credible, high quality route into meaningful employment, while gaining qualifications and life skills along the way.

❌ Apprenticeships are just for low-skilled vocational roles.
☑️ There are a range of high-level and professional career paths across diverse industries offering hands-on work and academic training.
