Tonight members from Knighton and Llandrindod Wells Division carried out training on evacuation and immobilisation as part of the event responder modules. This was a very practical session this evening where everyone got stuck in and worked fantastically as a team!

Knighton Division would like to say an enormous thank you to Knighton Hospital League of Friends.
Knighton St John Division and the Alternative Responder scheme was only possible due to the incredibly generous donation that was given to purchase our Rapid Response Vehicle and purchase the equipment to kit it out.

The support we have received from the community is so heart warming, the thank you messages, the positive feedback from event organisers, the gratitude from free public first aid sessions and the donations we receive from the local community.

We are an ever growing division with members increasing, five of our members are currently completing the “Event Responder” training which will allow them to respond to 999 calls to assist the Ambulance Service.

We are always on the lookout for additional members to join our division. We have a variety of different roles available within our division and county. Please head over to the St John Ambulance Cymru website for more information on how to apply.

We are also holding a number of free CPR and Defibrillator awareness sessions in the local communities as part of our “Defibruary” campaign. Please see our page for details of where and when 🚑

Would you know what to do in the event of a cardiac arrest?

Would you feel confident using a public access Defibrillator?

With February fast approaching, we have organised some “Defibruary” sessions locally throughout the month.
Defibruary is a campaign that we promote each year, highlighting the important of Defibrillators and CPR. In these sessions we deliver free CPR guidance and awareness on the use of Public Access Defibrillators.

We have 5 dates and venues confirmed through February -

Friday 13th - Presteigne Memorial Hall 19:00-2100

Thursday 19th - Discoed Church 19:00-21:00

Friday 20th - Knighton Community Centre 19:00-21:00

Wednesday 25th - Knucklas community Centre 19:00-21:00

Thursday 26th - Llanfair Waterdine Pavillion 19:00-21:00

Our responder Sean has been booked on throughout the night assisting the Welsh Ambulance Service to attend incidents in the very capable St John Land Rover 🚑

Happy New Year all!

First day of 2026 and already community training planning is well underway!

Next month is “Defibruary”, this is an awareness session on public access defibrillators and CPR.

Knighton Division are looking at holding a number of sessions within the local communities as requested.

So far the locations we have provisionally booked are -

Knighton
Discoed
Whitton

As the year draws to a close, I would like to say a massive shout-out to the Knighton St John Ambulance Volunteers🚑
From freezing sidelines to busy community festivals, Responding to 999 calls, these volunteers have been there through it all, providing life-saving care and support. Thank you for your dedication to our town. Here’s to a safe and healthy 2026 for everyone!
