Tatiana Mela: It always fascinates me what parent/s bringing in as issue/s.
Hi Tatiana,
I have been recommended your services by a friend and wonder if you may be able to help me.
I have a 14 week old baby who has been excessively sick pretty much since birth. It could potentially be reflux but we are not currently treating it with medication as we wonder if it may also be linked to a slight tongue tie.
I saw an osteopath to see if they could help with the sickness and she suggested that she could have a small tongue tie when she looked in her mouth. My health visitor is not concerned, as baby can move her tongue around. However, I don’t think she moves her tongue out of her mouth much (based on what I remember from my first daughter who is now 2.5). Along with the vomiting, she is also very dribbly and dribbles a lot. My husband and I think she may have a slight heart shaped tongue but can’t be certain.
She is exclusively breastfed and is gaining weight well (tracking at just under 50th centile) and she is generally a happy baby.
Regarding breastfeeding - I was told I have quite a fast flow so that may be linked to the vomiting but I have tried recommendations and nothing has really helped. She often pops on and off and sometimes dribbles whilst feeding so I wonder if there is an issue with latch (maybe not though!). There doesn’t seem to be a pattern with her vomiting - it is not necessarily after every feed and can be quite random sometimes with a little milk, sometimes a lot.
I breastfed successfully with my older daughter and she still breastfeeds 1-2x a day so this is all quite new to me.
She does often have green poos so have queried CMPA but she is a very happy baby and doesn’t have any other symptoms aside from the vomiting.
I wonder if you think these symptoms could warrant an appointment to have a look? If so, please could you send me info on your services. I live in Cardiff.
Kind Regards,
