This week Ed Sheeran revealed that Reformer Pilates is now his number one workout. He openly discussed huge physical changes and benefits it brings him.
I want to remove the stigma that “Pilates is just for women”.
Reformer Pilates has massive benefits for men also, because it goes beyond flexibility and core work—it builds strength, mobility, and control in a way that complements other training styles.
✅️ Builds Functional Strength
• Uses spring resistance to challenge muscles through their full range of motion.
• Strengthens stabilising muscles often overlooked in traditional gym workouts.
✅️ Improves Core Power
• Every movement recruits the deep core (transverse abdominis, pelvic floor, obliques, back extensors).
• Helps protect the spine, improve posture, and enhance performance in other sports.
✅️ Enhances Mobility & Flexibility
• Stretches tight hips, hamstrings, shoulders, and lower back—common problem areas for men.
• Promotes better joint health and reduces risk of injuries.
✅️ Balances the Body
• Corrects muscular imbalances caused by weight training, cycling, running, or desk work.
• Focuses on symmetry, alignment, and control.
✅️Low Impact, High Intensity
• Delivers a challenging workout without stressing the joints.
• Ideal for men recovering from injury or looking for longevity in training.
✅️ Boosts Athletic Performance
• Improves balance, coordination, and explosive movement.
• Many athletes (from rugby players to golfers) use Pilates to gain an edge.
✅️Mind-Body Focus
• Encourages awareness, breath control, and precision—helpful for stress management as well as performance.
👉 In short: reformer Pilates gives men a smarter way to train—stronger, leaner, more mobile, and more resilient.
